At the Halfway Mark: Hear a Work in Progress
As you might imagine, this is a very busy month for me, as I am hard at work on two deadlines. We've just passed the halfway point in the kickstarter campaign, and we have almost reached the halfway point towards our financial goal. I cannot thank you enough for the enthusiasm and faith in me that you've expressed with your support of my project. I am forever grateful for your support of my work, and it has given me an extra burst of energy to move ahead with my best work yet.
The other deadline? Oh, that's the wrap-up on the recording part of the CD.
I promised to share some of the "process," so here goes. This is a very rough mix, (meaning un-finished and the instruments and voices are not yet tamed), of a song from the Walton Collection, "We're Going to Pump Out Lake Erie." I've been meaning to learn this song for many years, and it was finally time to record it. That's Joel Simpson, Mike Bradburn, Richard Shields, Steve Lindenmeyer and Bill Pufuhl, singing with me on this song attributed to Captain Pearl Nye of Akron, Ohio who worked canal boats on the Ohio and Erie Canal a hundred years ago. Joe Filisko is going to record a harmonica part on this tune, and a few others, this coming Tuesday morning (thanks so much,Joe!). Then more background vocals on a few more cuts by Joel and Mike that afternoon and we mix next week!
This has been quite a ride so far, and it's not over yet. Once again, thanks so much for backing this project, and if you haven't joined yet, it's not too late to get aboard.
