CREDITORS - THE FILM (Canceled)
Starring BAFTA-nominated Christian McKay, Simon Callow, Ben Cura, Andrea Deck. Back this project, join us, and let us finish it.
We're Seeking Funds Elsewhere
As it can often happen with these things, you never know if something will work until you try it.
Clearly, for Creditors, Kickstarter wasn't the way to go to find funding.
We've been extremely lucky to have all of you so generously pledge towards the making of this project.
At the moment of pulling this page, with 9 days to go, we've reached 10% of our funding, totalling £20,780. Whilst, proportionately to our goal, this might seem small, it is actually more than what most films on Kickstarter aim for, and more than what they end up raising by the end of their campaign.
Additionally, we've been selected by Directors UK as a project on their curated Kickstarter page and by Filmforecaster as one of the top five film Kickstarters during our launch week.
People like Alan Rickman, Thomas Hampson and Sally Dexter have backed the project.
Our videos on YouTube have had a combined total views of over 10,000 within the first week of the launch of the campaign and our Twitter and Facebook pages have amassed a strong following of indie film lovers and people keen to see the film.
The pull the campaign has given us is allowing us to bring the film up to potential investors with confidence, and we have been proceeding to doing this over the last few days.
We will keep you posted with any further developments on the update section of this page, as well as on our social media websites and our website: toughdance.com
We would also like to thank Ashley Taylor Dawson, Jennifer Saunders and Mel C for helping us spread the word about the project.
THE CREDITORS TEAM
Alan Rickman is our most recent backer
Alan Rickman ("Die Hard", "Sweeney Todd", "Harry Potter") has just pledged to become Creditors' most recent backer!
He also sent us these words of encouragement:
"Good Luck to Kickstarter and all the new energies it supports." Alan Rickman
Alan revived "Creditors" (the play) at the Donmar Warehouse in London in 2008 and at the BAM in NYC in 2010. His production is the reason why the movie adaptation has become my obsession since I saw it 5 years ago.

What's the plot outline?
"Creditors" is the story of a love triangle, which finds itself unraveled when an American painter, Freddie Lynch, whose career and marriage are in decline is approached by an admirer, Grant Pierce, in a secluded hotel on an island in England and eased into making sense of his troubled relationship with his wife, writer Chloe Fleury.
Tell me more...
We have a location:
Osea Island, England, where the majority of the action will take place.
Three lead actors:
BAFTA-nominated Christian McKay ("Me and Orson Welles", "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy", "Rush"), Andrea Deck ("The Counsellor", "Singularity", "Paganini: The Devil's Violinist") and me, Ben Cura ("Comes a Bright Day", "Trance", "Dream On").
Are there other actors attached?
Simon Callow ("A Room with a View", "Amadeus", "Four Weddings and a Funeral"), is also attached.
What about the crew?
Our director of photography is NFTS-trained Ben Hecking ("Hide & Seek", "Hinterland"). See his work here.
"The best cinematography is not about showing off. It can be dark and gritty. It can be rich, sumptuous and ‘painted with light’ or it can be simple, classical and naturalistic. It is not necessarily about flashy visuals or the most expensive cameras. It is about understanding the story that has to be told and trying to figure out the best, and most appropriate, way to complement that story. If you can do that, then every film will have its own inherent sense of truth and beauty." - Ben Hecking
Our production manager will be Guy Tannahill ("Mission Impossible", "Hannibal Rising", "Game of Thrones"). See his full credits here.
Our sound mixer will be José Vinader ("Sexy Beast", "The Machinist", "Open Your Eyes"). See his full credits here.
Our costume designer will be Kara Colbeck ("Compassion", "Chemistry").
In filming material for this campaign, we've also worked with people like cinematographer Leigh Alner ("Mission To Lars"), and sound recordist Francis Cullen ("Welcome to the Punch", "Effie Gray") and it's very likely they'll be in our team for the continuation of the shoot.
