Over the last few years there has been a massive push for fossil fuel exports in the Pacific NW and British Columbia. Rising Tide has created a publication to support our network of regional groups organized to stop these projects and confront the root causes of climate change. We need your help to raise $ 1,600 for printing and distribution of 15,000 copies.
There are twenty-eight proposals for coal, oil and gas terminals, from British Columbia to Oregon. These projects not only constitute an enormous contribution to the climate crisis and endanger communities near the projects, they also facilitate the continued devastation of communities at the source of extraction near the tar sands, the fracking fields and the coal seams.
Over the last year the Rising Tide network has been taking direct action to halt these project and work towards building a movement for climate justice.
We have blockaded shipments of tar sands refining equipment, blocked tracks leading to oil terminals in Oregon and Washington, worked to support the Unist’ot’en resistance to oil and gas pipelines, and organized actions against Enbridge and Chevron in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The regional publication we have created, to be printed as a newspaper broadsheet, will allow people in our region to see the big picture of the proposed northwest fossil fuel corridor and connect the impacts of different projects to communities impacted by transportation and extraction. Most importantly it will allow people interested in getting involved to connect with a local group. Text on the back of the map outlines proposed terminals and how to contact local groups. Please help us raise the $ 1,600 to print 15,000 copies and distribute them throughout both our region and North America. Thanks!
Risks and challenges
While the task of confronting the climate crisis and stopping the fossil fuel projects in our region is daunting, completing the publication is not. Once we have received funding we will be able to immediately print the publication, which is fully designed and print-ready, and send them far and wide!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
