2nd Edition is Under Way

We've been busy this summer lining up sources for our 2nd edition beanies. Jodee Hartman is working with us again to design and knit them. The Vermont Fiber Factory was sold and unable to help but Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney Vermont has stepped in to create the yarn. Sally Mae had a nice year but gave her wool to another cause. For this edition we'll be mixing alpaca and merino, the merino coming from a farm in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. We'll be disclosing this year's star sheep in a month.

Those of you who did not receive your beanies from last year's run are first in line for this one. We'll notify you individually when they are available.

We expect beanies to be available by the end of October and will post updates as things move ahead. In the meantime here's a fun video of alpaca shearing:

An online ordering process will be set up. When a final design and quantities are known we'll send out a notice to the people who are still waiting for beanies and to everyone else who backed us in this first effort.

I'd like to order another beanie! How will I do that, will you have a website set up?

Josh - Thanks so much for the comments. This kind of feedback is fantastic. Jodee Hartman, our designer, agrees with you. Our beanies are made by hand on knitting machines - this is different than knitting with needles and knitting with a fully automated machine. There may be limitations on what Jodee can do but she's certainly going to try.

I sent you a personal email requesting a photo of your favorite Patagonia beanie.

while I did and do like my beanie, and I am bald and surf and it is cold in the winter in Wellfleet and north country trips, arriving half way thru winter is a bummer. still placed another order, but i guess you cannot shear animals in July?! Oh well that's okay and I missed the Xmas delivery. Hand made from alpaca and merino cant wait!

Out of my beanie collection, it is my favorite for its material, but not for its design. let me explain...maybe this can be incorporated. when I compare last years beanie to my favo Patagonia beanie, the 'gonia Beanie has a very circular outside no bunched up seams. I don't know a thing about stitching or such, but the Patagonia beanie is just plain smoother looking and sits better on the ol bean as a beanie. more than happy to show it as am local on outer cape.

thanks for doing this though. please take this as constructive note!

      I ordered anyhow :)
