Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) remains one of the world’s great fantasy illustrators; his work spans two centuries and still retains its expressive power.
The original ARTHUR RACKHAM ORACLE from Duck Soup Productions is the definitive divination pack based upon his beautiful and compelling work. Don't take our word for it: read the online reviews and watch the YouTube videos from some of the deck's many fans!
Now it’s time for a Second Edition: revised with new cards, produced in quantity and affordable enough to reach many more readers and collectors.
ROOTED IN STORYTELLING TRADITION
This deep and fanciful pack has its own unique symbology and the rich old-world flavor of European fantasy. It is an open-ended divination system not derived from the Tarot or Lenormand, but containing elements of both. Our first priority in the deck’s creation was to treat the artwork with the respect that it deserves.
Always using the images as a starting point, the oracle grew out of the art, with card meanings that reflected, as nearly as possible, the characteristics inherent in the in the original drawings and the stories that they were meant to illustrate. At no time did we attempt to shoe-horn the art into an existing framework; unlike other decks derived from Rackham’s art, this allowed us to feature the work as it was originally created, without cropping, altering or editing Rackham’s work in any way.
THE ONLY CHANGES MADE TO THE ARTWORK consist of cleaning, brightening and restoring the images to their original lustre.
NEW EDITION: NEW CARDS
For this refined second edition, a number of changes have been made, taking advantage of several years’ worth of customer input. Sub-titles have been re-lettered in a new but appropriate font, most of the images have been lightly sweetened, the darkest images have been brightened, and the “lengthwise” or sideways cards have all been replaced.
This brings us to the biggest difference: the new edition features more than FIFTEEN new card designs. This is made possible by removing both the sideways and the darkest of cards from the original deck, and also the two informational cards, the contents of which will be incorporated into a 12-page Little White Booklet. The deck now consists of 78 oracle cards plus 1 male and 1 female significator, for a total of 80 cards.
A QUALITY EDITION: AND YOU GET TO DECIDE THE FEATURES
The Arthur Rackham Oracle will be produced by my friends at the Shenzhen Wangjing Printing Company, Ltd., the same company that printed my beautiful Trick Or Tarot and Tinker’s Damn Tarot decks, along with many other decks known to most of you.

Each one of my award-winning tarot and oracle packs has its origin in the fabulous and fanciful, but under the hood they are thoughtfully and carefully crafted with an eye towards the traditional themes and symbols of Tarot. Far from being merely a "gimmick" deck, THE ARTHUR RACKHAM ORACLE is designed as a working pack aimed at practitioner and novice alike.
Why Kickstarter Again?
In order to achieve the quality that I want, at a price point that most tarot users and collectors can afford, I need to sell enough pre-orders of the deck to pay for its production, and once again I have turned to Kickstarter to accomplish that. By using Kickstarter to solicit pre-orders, nobody gets charged if the goal isn't met, and nobody is at risk. It's a way of keeping everything simple, structured and clearly above-board.
Who Am I?
I am a graphic artist, writer and cartoonist with 35+ years experience across all three disciplines. In 2014 I successfully funded my first tarot deck, Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi. Since then I have created several other popular Tarot, Oracle and Lenormand packs, offering them through my website, Tarot By Duck Soup. Most of my decks (excepting only the ones I have funded here via Kickstarter) are produced as “print on demand” decks. That is what I am gradually trying and hoping to change with these multiple Kickstarter campaigns.
The money raised here will cover the printing & shipping expenses of the deck, plus Kickstarter and Amazon fees. I can't do this without your pre-order support.
Thank you all in advance for your kind support and encouragement!
Risks and challenges
I've done this several times before, and delivered on every project. Once the project is funded, the risks are negligible. Barring a few revisions, the card designs are all done and ready to go. I’m working with a reliable printing company that does great quality work. As soon as the deck is funded, I will give them the green light; the entire process takes about three months to complete. It will be documented beginning to end through Updates here.
Getting all the "rewards" assembled and shipped out can be fussy and time-consuming, but If this project is funded, it will be completed and delivered in as timely a fashion as possible by myself (not using any third-party fulfillment services) -- and I have plenty of happy supporters from my previous projects to vouch for that! After all, I'm just like you: a lover of books, tarot decks and movies who starts to ask "Where's my stuff?" the second that I plunk down my shekels. I feel your pain. Also I can't stand having things hanging over my head: I'm going to want to get this thing done just as much as you want it done!
