At last, the stunning conclusion to the Covenant Trilogy!
Alex hadn’t really considered what would happen after she dragged Ariana through the portal in a desperate bid to close the gate between worlds. She hadn't given sacrificing herself a thought; she'd just wanted to end the demonic summoning before it was too late.
But when Alex wakes up on the other side, in the world of the Curburide, she has to think fast if she ever wants to see Joe Kieran, or Earth, again. Her only ally is an occult serial killer. Demons are searching for both of them, and there’s nothing demons love more than human fear and pain. They feed on it. In the world of the Curburide, the demons are everywhere.
And they’re hungry.
IN THE BEGINNING:
Twelve years ago, my first novel Covenant was released on a small press called Delirium Books. Even though it was produced as a small, limited edition hardcover book, it struck a chord with readers and in 2005, the Horror Writers Association presented it with the Best First Novel Bram Stoker Award. I had already been working on a sequel, and that novel, Sacrifice, came out from Delirium Books in 2007.
That’s when everything got really good – Leisure Books, a New York publisher, offered me a two-book deal to re-publish my first two novels in mass market paperback. So… in 2008 and 2009, Covenant and Sacrifice appeared in bookstores all around the country. I did dozens of book signings in Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Austin, San Francisco... and over the next couple years, Leisure bought and published three more original novels of mine.
But… I always wanted to write a third book in the Covenant series, to tell what happened to two of my favorite characters that I’ve ever written. And lots of fans have told me over the years that they wanted that book, too. My editor, however, said that series in horror don’t tend to sell very well, and encouraged me to write other novels. So... that's what I've been doing for the past few years. I've published six unrelated novels since Sacrifice came out, and one of them, NightWhere, was a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award in 2012.
But the final story of Joe Kieran, the demon Malachai, and Alex and Ariana remained untold.
Leisure Books ultimately sold their giant 40+ year catalog to 47North, a book company owned by Amazon, so that’s who owns the rights and publishes Covenant and Sacrifice today. However… right now, 47North isn’t interested in publishing new horror titles.
Regardless of their publishing interest, I still wanted to tell the final chapter of the story of Joe Kieran and Alex and Ariana.
And that story at last unfolds in the new novel called Redemption. I’ve decided to publish this novel on Dark Arts Books, my own label. I could simply release it and allow it to be sold by Amazon and Barnes & Noble and the rest… but this is really a book for my fans.
So in order to connect directly with the fans of those first two books (and hopefully make some new fans of the series!), I’m launching this Kickstarter Campaign so that I can get signed copies of Redemption – as well as the rest of the trilogy if readers want a matching set – in their hands.
Take a look at the offerings… I’d love to get a signed copy of Redemption in your hands to start the New Year. I’m excited to finally be able to share and personalize this final chapter with you!
Risks and challenges
There are no risks regarding the ultimate production of the book. The novel is written, and currently being laid out and edited. It could get delayed a week or two from delivery if the proofs show something that needs to be addressed, or if the printer takes longer than expected to ship the final copies. But that would cause a minor, not a major delay.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
