WHAT'S AN ARTFUL INVASION?
IT'S a series of events that introduces you to underutilized spaces in St. Paul. We'll bring together artists from all backgrounds (visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors, you name it!) and throw 3 artful pop-ups for the community in St. Paul to celebrate our vibrant city! Working with the selected artists and local residents, we will base each themed pop-up on the history and stories of the area.
WHY WE REALLY NEED YOU?
We've already been awarded a grant from the Knight Arts Challenge - BUT - we need to find matching funds before we begin. With your help (plus ticket sales from each event) we'll be able to make exciting art happen in St. Paul.
SO, WHERE'S THE PARTY?
We've been scouring the city, researching various locations and talking to different building owners, but where we throw the parties really depends on how much support you can provide. The more you donate, the bigger and better these events will be.
GREAT IDEA, WHO CAME UP WITH IT?
curious incidents is a trio of artful ladies (Ashley, Jade, and Leu) who all have a history of creating in Minnesota.
Ashley has focused on community building, public art, and theater. She has worked as a Freelance Arts Enabler who works with artists, city departments, organizations and communities to bring abstract visions into concrete realities.
Jade has focused on music, art, and discovery. She's a radio dj, a music curator for art installations, put together festivals and educational musical tours, and written about the music culture in Minnesota and Kansas.
Leu has focused on fashion, design and digital art. She's a graphic designer/producer/art director who creates one-of-a-kind approaches to brand management, marketing, strategy & communication.
CAN I BE INVOLVED BEYOND THE KICKSTARTER?
Yes! If you are an artist, owner of an underutilized space, or an art advocate we'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website. We will also be releasing a call for artists in the coming months so keep your eyes peeled.
Risks and challenges
Our full funding is dependent on your help! We're working hard, but we can't do it on our own, we need the support of our community. The sooner we fund our project the sooner we can start engaging artists and planning out venues to fit the size of our scope. We have until August 2016 to hold our final event, but the date of the first event will depend on venue and artist availability.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
