About this project
The intent of the research will be to examine the different permissions of Android applications available in Google Play and the likelihood that malicious behaviors exist. It will include a cross-examination and statistical analysis of the most common requested permissions among malware and legitimate applications.
This study will extend the existing literature on malware, application security, and mobile devices by merging the body of research together. The result should reveal the potential relationships of set of permissions and the likelihood of malicious activity. In addition, the research will potentially increase awareness of the severity over mobile applications security and the seriousness of the malware problem on smartphones.
This purpose of this project is to create fund necessary to complete my doctoral dissertation. I would like to complete my dissertation paper by the end of the year but that would depend on whether I successfully complete all requirements. Upon successfully completing my dissertation, I will deliver either a digital or physical copy of my dissertation to those that help fund this project.
Risks and challenges
Since I am determine to complete my doctorate, I am confident that the dissertation paper will be completed. I plan to complete the dissertation at the end of 2014.
