A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

To us, Virtual Reality (VR) is tangible imagination. It is being utilized to excite, educate, entertain, and express new ideas. We are excited about the future of VR and want to be part of the revolution. This technology has the potential to inspire people, cultures and communities in a way the world has never experienced. We are not just VR fans; we are users! Our goal with VRGE is to create thoughtful products for this new digital frontier.

plan but we underestimated the marketing demands. However, thanks to the
backers that found us, we are far enough along to make it past the finish line.

Your VR hardware now has a home!
We set out to create the first and most versatile virtual reality storage system – a powered dock that would organize, charge and protect current and future VR hardware.

With the VRGE VR dock, headsets can be oriented down to protect sensitive lenses from light and dust. No tension is placed on fabric, foam or elastic components, maintaining longevity of your VR investment. The VRGE VR dock has a center cavity optimized for all headset/visors sizes. This opening, plus internal retaining features, secure each headset yet still provide easy accessibility. The VRGE VR dock also provides flexibility for storing headphones in both wall-mount or desktop configurations. Contact surfaces (center bumper and accessory adapters) are made from soft touch materials to prevent scratching or marring of exterior hardware finishes. Additionally, non-skid feet prevent sliding and protect tables and desktops.
Ready, Set, Charge!
The VRGE VR dock charges both the HTC Vive and the PSVR Move controllers. Along with clearly visible charging indicators, your controllers will always be ready and accessible in their upright position.
Integrated channels help route and organize USB cables (included with each VRGE VR dock). Each channel is optimized for varying cable diameters (not all cables are created equal!). Accessory adapters are molded in soft touch material that award more flexibility for subtle cable head differences.
Desktop or Wall Mount? Your choice.
We recognize that everyone's home (and how they use VR) is different. Some maintain individual VR game rooms, others share space with family members, and still others have dual purpose regions with existing workstations, office equipment or game consoles.
We understand space is valuable. It was important to Team VRGE to provide options for your personal organizational needs.
Designed to be horizontally and vertically compact, the VRGE VR dock can be used on a tabletop OR as a wall-mounted storage solution for your VR investment. Molded case bottom features provide easy on-wall assembly, and of course, all hardware is included!

With this Kickstarter campaign, we are exploring a Limited Edition option in a custom material and finish. In addition to the Maple Wood/Gloss White, we are offering a Walnut Wood/Gunmetal Grey!
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, we may offer more options and/or allowing customers to select specific finishes to compliment their individual decor.
Less is More.
Simple is difficult. By providing a product that organizes, charges and protects, Team VRGE aims to keep the VR experience pure.
Through the development process, we reduced part quantity, explored material benefits and eliminated complex assemblies. Injection molding helped us to combine and integrate features into a single, robust part. Soft touch materials protect hardware and provide grip. Embedded magnets replace screws that require tools and increase the potential for damage or error.
The VRGE VR Dock is approximately 14.17" in length, 6.5" in depth and 2.7" in height. Each case top is machined natural wood and hand rubbed with a preserving finish; the case bottom is molded plastic. Total weight is approximately 2.2 lbs.
Why do we need your support?
Funds raised on Kickstarter will be used to pay for injection molding tooling, fixtures/jigs and initial set-up machining costs associated with a first-run production.
Additionally, our supplier has agreed to start tooling as soon as our funding goal is reached. This could expedite our overall schedule and help reward our backers even sooner. We want our supporters to be rewarded for helping Team VRGE get started!
Who is Team VRGE?
We are designers. We sketch, model, prototype, rinse and repeat.
In our professional careers we facilitate conversations about the future - how should a product work, what should it look like, how should it feel, etc. We look for issues that create barriers, negatively impacting a user's relationship with technology either before, during or after the power button is pressed.
VRGE is a small team of industrial designers who have worked together for over 6 years. Each member has more than 17 years of professional experience in helping bring consumer products to market. One year ago we endeavored to combine our experience and passion into our own innovative and thoughtful brand.

Risks and challenges
Every project comes with its own distinct risks and challenges. For Team VRGE possible risks and challenges include -
1. The first and obvious challenge is meeting our goal so that we can pay for the expensive tooling cost on the injection molded base, bumper, and adapter parts. The cost of shipping will also make up a large part of our funding goal especially if we receive a larger proportion of international backers.
2. Unforeseen manufacturing delays. We have worked on enough projects to know that there are always things that pop up during the manufacturing stage of a project that can delay a schedule. We will do everything in our power to prevent these, and if they do happen to occur, will alert our backers to the issue.
3. For low volume, we plan to ship the units ourselves, but in the event we receive a larger than expected order amount, we will need to partner with a third party logistics company. This would be a good problem to have and have already done homework in this area given the chance this occurs.
4. Getting trapped in VR during use testing. It is possible that we will become trapped in a VR alternate reality and not realize the large passage of time causing a delay in the project. This is highly unlikely since our spouses and children will be there to pull us back to the real world.
Team VRGE has the background and real-world experience to successfully execute this project! We feel a strong sense of responsibility to our backers and we will keep you informed of our progress along the way.
After a year of designing, prototyping and relentless test use, we have selected a manufacturer and are ready for tooling release after the Kickstarter campaign is funded.

While unanticipated events can occur, our experience have given us the capability to anticipate and plan for potential delays or problems. Our high level of familiarity with development processes involved in consumer product design give us confidence when it comes to handling unexpected problems.
