About this project
Drift Stage is a modern take on the classic arcade racer. Paying homage to the eras that birthed the genre, Drift Stage features a unique art style, blending pixel art and 3D models to create a colorful and vibrant world to race in. Focusing on easy to pick up gameplay with enough depth to keep dedicated race fans satisfied, Drift Stage hopes to bring back the blend of pure fun and challenge that was a staple of arcade classics.
Drifting is the key to victory in the world of Drift Stage. Races become duels of wits and technique, with the deciding factor often coming down to split second timing on the entry or exit of the turn. Featuring an original drifting style inspired by games like Outrun 2, Ridge Racer, and Daytona USA, Drift Stage can make for both fun casual racing and intense second shaving battles.
Building on the classic modes everyone has come to know and love, Drift Stage plans to include multiple new game types utilizing modern game design techniques, such as an infinite drift mode incorporating a procedurally generated course with checkpoints, as well as a decal system, allowing you to personalize your car with custom images.
A conventional single player race against AI opponents.
Race against staff ghosts and your personal best as well as your friends' best online leaderboard times.
Checkpoint style races on a randomly generated track.
Challenge your friends in a time/score based daily challenge.
Choose your racer and follow their story across multiple races.
Create custom tracks in an in-game editor and customize your cars with decals.
Local & Online Multiplayer
Drift Stage features local split screen up to four players, just like the old days, in addition to online racing.
In order to gain feedback and be as transparent as possible about our intended direction for Drift Stage,
we've released a short teaser demo of the current alpha build of the
game. While still very much a work in progress, we felt it was very
important for people get a chance to see and play the game before we
launched a Kickstarter campaign.
If you would like to try the demo yourself, it's available as a free download right here.

Hey what's up? It's MYRONE. I'll be handling the music for Drift Stage. I'm about halfway through composing the soft shreddiest soundtrack ever created for a video game. We're going to go on an aural journey together when Drift Stage comes out, but here's a sampler that you can stream RIGHT NOW:
- Chase Pettit (@chasepettit) - Programmer / Designer - The code monkey of the crew. He's spent a lot of time playing games and being a professional programmer. He's also spent some time driving a car but most of it in a straight line while obeying all traffic laws.
- Charles Blanchard (@delkoduck) - Artist / Designer - He might be the youngest member of the team, but he's already developed a confident and consistent style all his own. Has an obsession with car photos and anime GIFs that he insists is perfectly healthy.

Risks and challenges
Every technical and artistic endeavor is going to be subject to some bumps in the road, and history shows that video game development can be especially wrought with unexpected difficulties. We're a small team that's trying to make a rather ambitious project, but we're extremely passionate and dedicated to realizing our vision.
We're confident in our schedule and budget, but there's no denying that our estimates are still just that - estimates. We've put a lot of time and energy into developing, researching, and planning this project, but if issues arise, we promise to be as transparent as possible with letting you know what they are and how we're addressing them. If you're going to trust us with your money, we owe it to you to be open and honest about what we're doing with it.
