A guitarist and composer, haunted by alien strains from beyond. An artist, being driven mad by his dreams.
At the edge of sanity, the only way back from the yawning gulfs of illimitable horror is...
"Oath Of Dagon" is my 5th record of instrumental, prog-metal guitar. Teaming up with Argentinian fantasy and sci-fi artist Marcelo Orsi Blanco, the purpose of this record is to finally go all-in with a lifelong obsession: the weird fiction of H.P. Lovecraft.
The aim here is to create the ultimate, authentic, Lovecraft metal experience. This is a true audio / visual project - a 10 song, full length record with 10 Lovecraftian paintings, combined into a cultist's Dream Journal. The music and journal will be packaged as a high quality download card with a 20 page comic-style art book.
Your backing will be used to pay for manufacturing and shipping of the physical products. Any over-funding will directly support Marcelo and me in creating this ode to Lovecraft and his legacy.
Our estimated date for the completion of "Oath Of Dagon" is March of 2016. There's a lot of work to be done here, and we feel this is a reasonable amount of time for a couple of busy guys to complete it!
The three demo tracks above ("R'lyeh", "Old Zadok Allen", "Dunwich Horror") will give you an idea of what the remaining seven songs will be like, once the full record is completed. You can download these three tracks right now for free, by visiting http://www.BrettMillerMusic.net and joining the Esoteric Order Of Dagon. You'll also get a membership certificate designed by Marcelo, that you can print out and personalize.
On behalf of Marcelo and myself, we want to thank you in advance for your support of this project - it is truly a labor of love and respect for H.P. Lovecraft, who has had such a tremendous impact on our imaginations, music, and art.
Risks and challenges
Any attempted form of mental or physical contact with the Old Ones, the Deep Ones, or the Elder Things is not without risk - both to one's life and sanity.
Indeed, a Lovecraftian metal endeavor such as this one poses real challenges; not only for me and Marcelo, but quite possibly to the world and everyone on it.
To help mitigate the risk of plunging our planet into a new dark age of cosmic horror upon the completion of "Oath Of Dagon", we recommend the following protocols when you receive your copy:
1. Please Use the Authentic Elder Sign
Not that "star-eye" nonsense - please become familiar with the genuine article, and trace it before listening.
2. Don't Take to the Water
After viewing the journal, be vigilant for a few days. If your visage begins to express any latent features of "the Innsmouth look", do not panic, and do not take to the water. Maybe it'll go away.
3. Watch for Tracks
The Mi-Go have one weakness - they love to leave tracks. In the mud, in the snow, in wet sidewalk cement - anywhere they can. Look for them, and you'll have a bit more time to decide on what color brain canister you want.
Becoming aware of the risks and challenges associated with "Oath Of Dagon" may go a long way in preventing them. We'll do our best to avoid any inadvertent portal-opening, but our lawyer, Horace Whateley (of the undecayed Whateleys) says that we can't make any guarantees.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
