Nicholas, are we on schedule? Thanks

      Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for backing our project!
As to your question, we are Atiz the book scanner guys so book scanning has been on our mind from the outset. But 8 MP is not good enough for scanning spread double pages so yes, you have to scan one side at a time.

In the future, we may release a new enhancement option to deal with text books and the one that solves curvature too.
In the meantime, I see there is this book scanning app that you may want to try:

Perhaps it can help you accomplish your book scanning goal from day one.

Hi Nicholas. Great looking product. Can't wait to take it for a spin. Just wondering your thoughts about using the device as a non destructive book scanner. I realize that getting both pages of an open book might be too hard for one pass, but I am hoping that i'd be able to do one side, then the other, and merge pages on some 3rd party program. Just wondered if you have thought at all about possibilities here.

      Hi Eric,

Thanks for your feedback and the questions!

We recognize and understand that $500 is a rather significant amount.

+ Do we, kickstarter backers, have influence on feature choices for the app (like instant PDF to Dropbox scanning)?

Certainly. As you understand, not that every requested feature will be implemented or be implemented at the same time. But we will prioritize our work and decide what features to add almost solely based on the feedback of the customers.

Kickstarter backers are our earliest and most important customers that we have to satisfy to do well.

So sure, if you wouldn't charge us for the idea :) we would gladly consider implement it. Instant PDF to Dropbox sounds like a great idea.

+ Does the app work without the dock?

Yes. The app is available on the App Store now. Wouldn't like to you give it a try? The app is free! Note that we will constantly update it to improve the performance and features.

+ Would you consider an 'automatic' feature in the app, scanning and adding pages to the PDF a few seconds after the last motion was detected?

      Another great idea.

+ Does the dock somehow 'fold' away to take less space when not in use?

We thought about that and have explored that route. There were a few other products that offer portability as a feature, but it's plasticky and users (including us) don't like those comparison devices and the experience using them at all. So that's why the dock is as it is.

Another reason is that for the device to function well, everything must be exact. The angle of the dock can't be off by even a few degrees or else the camera would be in the wrong place capturing a wrong thing. The page edge could be missing or it may be skewed. The light profile would change in a material way. As such, it's important functionality-wise and use experience-wise that the base, the neck piece, and the dock must be very rigid and don't wobble.

+ What does "International shipping extra" mean when shipping outside the US?
What city are you located? We can get you the right quote. Let us better address that as FAQs shortly. Thanks again, Eric-Paul!

Great pitch, Scandock sounds like the thing I'm looking for to go paperless. However, I am in doubt about the price, it's pretty steep for a Kickstarter pledge - even if it's worth every penny. A $500 product sounds like something I'd only buy after a simpler, less expensive product would prove that the concept works. Would you consider answering these questions to draw me over the pledging line?

I know, it's all over the map, but $500 is quite a pledge.
      Cheers,
