So what's the story about?
For many of us middle-school was a tough time. We were just trying to fit in, make friends, figure out the balance between being a little kid and a teenager. I remember feeling awkward just walking down the hall.
In Titans of PS 271 we follow Sam, a middle schooler who is just trying to fit in and make it through school. A bit of an outsider she thinks that if she wins the school's annual Paper Football competition all her problems will be solved. Throughout her journey she lives out many Bible stories. Along the way she befriends the school janitor and he helps her look at the world through a different lens.
We'd love to tell you more about it we're afraid we'd give too much away.
What's the genre?
I would put this film in the classification of adventure comedy.
Who should see this film?
This film is suitable for all ages. We are gearing it toward middle schoolers and high schoolers but adults, don't count yourselves out, it has a lot of humor and action for all ages. Hopefully it will inspire people to read the Bible and experience many of the stories she lives out in their own way. We also hope it will open people's eyes to the challenges we all face.
So, is there a soundtrack?
Not exactly a soundtrack but we'll be using music from the incredible Kristen Bennett.
Take a listen to her song Tongue Tied:
You can learn more about her at http://kristenbennettmusic.com/.
How will you spend my money?
There are many expenses that come along but here's a short list:
• Set construction
• Storage space for the gigs of HD footage we will have
• Lighting gear
• Music and sound effects
• Upgrading audio recording equipment
• Extra compact flash cards
• External pro res converter
• Upgrading external monitors and transmitters
If we go beyond our goal we hope to hire a colorist and sound tech to put the finishing touches on the film.
This is a low budget film, the actors are volunteers, so is the crew, inlcuding me and my wife. All the money will be going directly into a film that is more about the passion of the message than any success we would gain.
Have you made a movie before?
Yes, two years ago we released the short film Cleansing Rain. It's been used in recovery programs across the United State and in five different countries. It featured the music of Addison Road www.addisonroad.com and Alanna Story www.alannastory.com.
Here's a link to the trailer:
Also, we've done several video projects for our church, Brandywine Community Church, and we've documented mission work with World Renewal International. Plus, my wife is a videographer for a major healthcare system in Indianapolis.
Explain this Kickstarter to me again.
Basically it's a way to fund our project through crowdsourcing. People who enjoy inspirational, funny films that share a positive message can help us raise the money we need to make the movie.
Donors get rewards depending on how much they pledge, anything from one of our nifty t-shirts to be being able to name a character or be credited as an associate producer. The minimum donation is just $1.
If we don't reach our goal of $10,000 then you won't be out your donation. But sadly, you won't get your reward either. Please encourage your friends to support the film by sharing this page with them.
When do you start filming?
We plan to start shooting September 20 and hope to release the film in the late spring of 2014.
Thanks for taking the time to look through our Kickstarter page. I hope it has given you a better feel for what the movie is about. I know it will be a lot of fun to make and even more fun seeing lives changed.
God bless and see you in the movies.
Perry and Jeri Reichanadter
Risks and challenges
Challenges we face currently are securing a school to film in and having the weather cooperate on outside shooting days.
We've already secured many crew members and some cast and are in the process of filling more spots. It should take a few more weeks to find the right people.
And funding is always a challenge, but we hope that this Kickstarter will help us overcome that one. It's not cheap to make a movie, even on a volunteer-only set.
If you're unable to give financially, please lend us your prayer support. We can use it now, through filming, editing and distribution.
Speaking of prayer, doing a faith-based film is a huge challenge within itself. We may have a hard time getting it into our local theater which is a hope of ours.
In the very least we hope to get distribution through an outside vendor but if that doesn't happen we'll distribute it ourself.
