Thanks!
...and a new goal!
We'd like to thank everyone who has contributed! You've made it possible for our season to be much more than we'd expected. Now, in the few days remaining, we have a new challenge - if we can make it to $6000, we can do the following extra things:
1) Bring playwright Meghan Brown up to Davis twice so that she is able to collaborate with us at both the beginning and the end of the process.
2) Utilize super-cool video projections to create magical special effects including flight, vanishing, and a scorching hot finale!
We're almost there, so it won't take much to push us past this new goal!
About the Company
Way back in the day, a group of longtime friends returned home from college and decided, “Hey, kids, let’s put on a show!” When the Hunt family generously agreed to host the group in the Historic Schmeiser Barn in the countryside of Yolo County, Barnyard Theatre was born. Each summer since 2004, undaunted by dust and mosquitoes, the company has transformed the working barn into an working theatre. Audience members enjoy seeing a wide variety of original works in this unique theatrical venue.
We Need Your Help
This summer, we need your help to produce the world-premiere of Meghan Brown's Psyche. Putting on a show in a barn is no easy feat, particularly since we return it to its original state at the end of each summer!
Your donations will directly fund:
Set materials: steel, lumber, bolts, rigging hardware, and more...
Lighting equipment: instuments, lamps, gel, cable, and more...
Costumes: fabric, rentals, dry cleaning, and more...
Port-a-potties: got to have them!
Lift rental: to install the set and lighting equipment
Fire extinguishers: knock on wood
Exit signs: always good to know where to go
Ramps for accessibility: so everyone can enjoy
Gaffers tape: enough said
And bug spray…lots of bug spray!
About This Summer's Production
Meghan Brown's Psyche is “a classic tale of love, betrayal, and blindingly good sex.” In this darkly humorous retelling of the Greek myth, a young poet wastes away in the attic coaxing poetry from his muse, the immortal Psyche. His mother, an aging movie star, is set to begin a new life with her new lover, his former best friend. What do we really want from the people we love? People who see us for what we are? Or people who are willing to remain blindfolded?
