All of our pieces are created from start to finish under one roof right here in the USA. This helps to oversee quality control, maintain healthy environments and fair wages for workers, and ensure your piece is created with care and attention to the finest detail. The people who create and consume these pieces are at the core of why we do things the way we do.
We're committed to using environmentally friendly fabrics in our designs, that also look and feel great. For this collection, we used four fabrics:
TENCEL: For the V-Neck Dress we used Tencel for the perfect marsh and black colors and beautiful drape. It is made from natural wood fibers that are sustainably harvested, requires less water than other fabrics, uses a closed loop system that recycles solvents, and is biodegradable. It's made in environmentally friendly production facilities, and it has the perfect weight and softness.
RAW SILK NOIL: Silk is one of the strongest fibers around. During the production of the fiber no toxins are released in the environment and contains no toxins genetically. Raw Silk has a textured hand and wears similarly to cotton. The raw nature of this fiber gives an otherwise uninteresting fabric a little something extra.
HANDWOVEN COTTON: We worked with a talented local weaver to design the perfect fabric for the woven Reese Top and Dress. We decided on a slightly heavier weight cotton in a herringbone for the perfect coziness and softest hand. After selecting the fiber, colors, and pattern it is looped by hand, one thread at a time. Woven with a subtle herringbone pattern, this cotton fabric is incredibly soft and not too much drape for a better fitting shape. This fabric is beyond comfortable, and you may never want to take it off!
COTTON TWILL: For the Reese Coat we used a structured, durable Cotton Twill. It resists pilling, thinning, and tearing and while it has a sturdy body and weight, it will softens beautifully with wear. This fabric is the ultimate utilitarian and is one of the strongest fabrics around.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenges are brand awareness and the cost of the product. It is expensive to create products that are made in the USA from sustainable materials. And while selling directly to the consumer (rather than through established retailers) keeps the price down, it could limit our reach. In order to survive, we need people like you who are willing to order products online and stay connected with a brand they believe in. We also need your help to spread the word about TWO FOLD's versatile and responsibly-made products.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
