Orders Fulfilled - MAKE - WIRED - and Dr. Steam Reveals His Brass

Orders Fulfilled

Last week we received a nice note from our fulfillment house. ALL FLIPBOOKITS, MOTOS, 3-PACKS AND 5-PACKS HAVE SHIPPED! (except for a few supporters who didn't respond to the surveys).

A big thank you to our fulfillment center peeps: Thank you Dieter, Catharine, Mary, Josh, SteveH, Karen, Antoinette, and the rest of the FEX crew!

Just a quick note about our shipping.
FedEx International Mail does not provide tracking numbers. FedEx airfreight's the parcel to your local post office, then they delivery it to your door.
If you don't receive your FlipbooKit within 12 days of your emailed shipping notification, please contact us.
Thanks for your patience, and we hope you all enjoy your FlipBooKits.

Full Circle

A few months back, before FlipBooKit, this fellow from MAKE magazine named Matt Richardson met us at the San Mateo Maker Faire. He immediately took an interest in our mechanical flipbook art and there was enthusiastic talk of interviews, articles and kit ideas. That was June 2012.

Matt finished our interview in September, and with a little-twinkle in our eyes, we started imagining how to build a kit. "Why not launch a KickStarter campaign on the publish day of the MAKE article in October?"

We came up with a name, purchased the DNS, and sat with a few guys at CRASH Space talking about box materials. After a week it all came together and our eyes were twinkling away. Then a phone call from Matt saying, "the Article will publish in January, not October".
(our plans were dashed)

Plan B

We were just about to postpone the project when Mark decided to call the folks at the NY Maker Faire. "Have a look at this art... there was gonna be an article... and we had this plan... Can we get a last-minute booth?" First we received a tentative maybe... then a YES! We were ON! We had two weeks to finish prototyping, build a booth, and create a KickStarter campaign.

Whew! You know the rest.

Now we can announce that the MAKE magazine issue is out! Thanks for everything Matt!

Oh yeah, and FlipBooKit made it into WIRED MAGAZINE too!
Our twinkly eyes are now sparkling.

Dr. Steampunk?

Lastly, we'd like to introduce you to the esteemed Dr. Steampunk. Harkening the days of industry, ingenuity, and Victorian romance - we've been busy in the Doctor's laboratory testing materials. We wanted to get this perfect, so after collecting all of your votes and input (thank you!), we were able to decide on a direction for this very special production run:

A motorized FlipBooKit, special themed animation to load, beautiful etched brass hardware/components, and a old-time wooden handle. (Pictured are prototypes and the final brass etch art.)

The orders have been placed with our metal smiths. Now we wait for the parts, and will hopefully be showing you the finished kits soon.

New Items?

We promised you all ArtPaks, and we'll have three new additions next month! Waltz, Mechanical Heart and Leapfrog will be available as pre-printed cards.
And for all of you that missed your chance for a Dr. Steampunk, we have a new edition in the works: Steampunk Valentine - with it's own refashioned brass plates. We are offering a kit version and a fully-built gift package for Valentines Day romantics.

Take a peek and preview them in our FlipBooKit Online Store.

As always, thanks everyone for your patience and support,

your twinkly-eyed FlipBooKit-eers,

Mark, Wendy and Steve!

Hi, it has been almost a week and I have had no one respond to my concern about not receiving a survey. I know that things must be crazy trying to fulfill orders but I would feel much more at ease if I could get a response.... Please let me know how to get a survey, as I never received one. I pledged $298 for the smart duino flipbookitts. If there is an easier way to communicate with you all, please let me know.

Congrats to the team for all your success. I'm a smart-duino level backer and I don't remember receiving a survey or giving my mailing address. Will I be sent one or is there somewhere I can check to see if I got one? If you can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks.

I backed motoflip and single flipbookit, not sure when it'll arrive, now or later.

Congratulations on your success! However, I'm also a Smart-duino level backer and definitely never received a survey. I was hoping to have the kit as a Valentine's Day gift for my husband... When will I be sent a survey, and when can I expect my kit? Thanks...

Hi the team, always a pleasure to read about your adventures!
Just a question for you, i absolutely don't remember about filling the survey or give any information for the shipping... how can i check ?

I am glad things have gone so well, however, I've still not received our Fab-Five! I've got projects with kids waiting! Can you please check on this and let me know? Thanks

I think it would be cool if you had Steampunk upgrade kits that people could buy to add to already-owned Flipbook kits, instead of having to buy a completely new Flipbook. Or maybe other sorts of customization kits.

I received my three pack! Thank you and best of luck.

P.S. Haven't played with it yet but look forward too it and creating my own FlipBookKit story. :)

I'm also a backer, at the Smart-duino level. I don't see either of the notices that you mentioned below to Jonathan. But, it does say "estimated delivery: feb 2013", so I assume that these are still in progress due to the additional electronics?

If you can give an update on these when you get a moment, I'd appreciate it. Thanks very much! (If there's a survey that I missed & still need to fill out, can you point me in that direction?)

@Jonathan -- you might want to send a message directly (using the "Contact me" link on the right). But, if you filled out the survey you can find your response by looking on the right for your selected pledge level (in green) and then for a line like "Survey sent: 11/23/12 • Your response" at the bottom of that box, with "Your response" being a link. If you haven't responded, there should be a yellow notice at the top of every Kickstarter page saying something like "Shinymind needs information from you" with a button.

errrr - I'm a backer but I haven't filled in any surveys. please help!
