The Story :
A young girl ( Lila ) , falls into deep dream state after a traumatic accident. She wakes up in an unknown world filled with strange clues and characters tied to her real life. She'll need help defeating the Spider Queen who is trying to keep her trapped in 'Dark Woods Valley'.
Strange creatures and characters both good and evil, will assist or detract from her journey. Themes of fear, temptation, illusion, trust and problem solving will test her ability. Will she ever get to return home?
Main Characters :
Lila - she needs to find a way home, but can't do it alone.
Tin Robot - a friend by command. An assistant.
Curious Cat - neutral , self - centered and tricky.
Wild Raven - knowledgeable , mystic , also neutral.
Spider Queen - deceitful and evil . Keeping Lila trapped is her agenda.
Additional Characters :
Mantis Witch, Followers of the Spider Queen, Giant Rabbit and Dark Woods Rat.
Early Alpha Game Play :

Finding a way to cross the lake can be deceiving .

Why are you making this game ?
" We love games that allow exploring , games such as Firewatch, Dear Esther, the Witness and Journey. More types of these games can exist, even on a smaller budget and be different from each other. No timers, no locked paths. A relaxed vibe.
Also, the movies Pan's Labyrinth and Alice in Wonderland have been big influences for visual aesthetic and story arch. "
About Us :
Musician's who make indie games, Waves and Blaze .
In 2009 , Erik Matson, a working composer, attended Games Sound Con to learn about composing music for video games. After seeing game engine software displayed at the conference, it sparked a fire to learn more.
He decided to learn coding and made several small games for iPhone and iPad. During this process he downloaded Unity 3d, which could allow him to make larger games. All the while still being a full time musician - composer, which is how he met Mary Barron.
They began recording soundtrack arrangements in their spare time which inspired them to start creating The Rain Spirit : Code Breaker back in early 2016.
Mary Barron is a violist, vocalist and composer. She also has a great talent for voice over. She will be narrating the main character of the game ' Lila '. Mary is recording intimate and atmospheric string compositions for the game. She is also contributing to writing the story.
" Making games and being a musician both at the same time is hard work but attainable with the software technology today. In the last 8 years I've learn coding, simple modeling, video editing, graphic design and game design. YouTube tutorial videos, Google and online forums have taught me how. " - Erik

What platforms do you plan on releasing ?
First Steam and Itch.io ( PC , Mac , Linux ) .
Then PS4 digital download
Then VR ( Occulus / Vive ) .
* PS4 and VR are post stretch goals, requiring heavily updated UI design after the PC, Mac, Linux Release, especially the VR Build . The good news is that the game engine is Unity 3d , which can handle VR development well. PS4 Development will take additional time.
Why do you need Kickstarter to help ?
Making great games is incredibly difficult and can cost huge amounts of money. Any assistance from anyone helps us small time or solo indie developers realize our dreams of making quality products. Help us create new and different games that the AAA companies won't do. We need the funds to give us more time to polish and hire outside talent.

How will the Rewards Program be handled ?
For Q and A, we can communicate feedback, trouble shooting and idea sharing via email, Facebook, Google Drive, Skype or whichever is better for you. Please think of it as a team member position. We need your input and influence. Dropbox and Steamkeys are delivery options for builds. We will also supply feedback and opinion forms.
What is the estimated release date ?
We plan to release way before the latter of 2017 , or much earlier , Q3 on Steam and Itch.io .
How much will the game cost ?
Not expensive , affordable .

What types of puzzles are in the game?
Environmental puzzles, switches, riddles, mazes, maps, code breaking i.e. cryptography , interactive line puzzles, dialogue clues and portal puzzles.

Risks and challenges
The good news is that the project is already passed Steam Greenlight and is gathering peoples interest . Much of the level design is finished and game play is fluid . Also , because it's a very small team, we own all publishing rights and are free to release the game when ready . Don't worry about this project never being released or taking several years , the train is already moving and this must happen . **VR and PS4 will take extra time
The problem is needing just a little more money to make it really great and stand out in the endless sea of indie games.
This includes detailed level design, adding puzzles , recording more voice over , fixing up game play features , press releases , a new trailer , testing groups , website design , sound design and music .
Working full time as a guitar teacher but to cover my living expenses and game development expenses , it's tough financially . Anything helps !Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
