About this project
Most organization focuses on putting everything in different proper places, whereas, Abstruse is simply one visible space for all your mess to stay.
Abstruse captures your messes as they are, with minimal effort on your end. It enables you to move about your day and create art with every interaction.
Like its name, this frame is a combination of obscurity and enigma to allow you the freedom of defining its purpose.
A realm of possibilities to suit a variety of different objects, places and lifestyles.
Every mess is part of a process and unique to it's creator. Let's be proud of our messes!
It can be mounted to the wall in a few simple steps. Wall mounting step-by-step instructions are included in the package as well.
Design details and other components are self-compiled and the completed set is packaged by hand. The frame and shelf manufacturing is Chicago-based and done in partnership with local designer Dexter Morrow from Deca Studios, a mixed-media studio located off of Halsted and Cermak.
Hi there! My name is Nabeeha, but friends call me Nabz. Thank you for taking interest in my project! I became interested in the process of mess and organization over the past year, and this project was born from that exploration.
I’m a fourth year Industrial Design Student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This is my first Kickstarter campaign and I’m super excited!
Working on this campaign, I’m realizing more and more just how much I’ve learned within my time at UIC.
In turn, this project is my way of sharing with all of you the many experiences and skills I've accumulated over the years!
Abstruse is being made in limited quantities so do take note of the availability of offers.
Risks and challenges
No significant risks or challenges. Two possible changes I foresee are with the timeline and shipping price.
(1) This project is being created by a two-person team in a small design studio, and involves intensive manual labor. This makes the production speed slower. While, great diligence has been put into the planning of the timeline to ensure a smooth completion, there still remains a possibility to fall behind on schedule by 2-3 weeks if any materials arrive late.
(2) Shipping prices are subject to a possible increase of $3 if for some reason we are forced to switch to flat-rate shipping (the chance of this happening is very low though).
Any and all changes will be relayed to backers via updates. We are fully confident in our ability to deliver this project, all we need is your support!
