Friends and followers,
We’ve got a very special release for you today. After years of getting requests to add a clip to our Original Machine Era Pen, we’ve finally come up with a solution worthy of this well-known design.
Originally released in 2015, the Machine Era Original Brass quickly became our most popular item. Although we don’t know exactly how many we’ve made. It’s been featured on almost every gear blog, Multiple collaborations, EDC review channels, and rose to #1 brass pen on Amazon’s Choice.
We’ve decided to clean up some lines, dial in some finishing work, add a 3D machined pocket to hold the well made (in USA) extra flexible clip in place, and actually laser engrave our logo so you know it’s the real deal- It’s inspired quite a few copies.
Adding a 3D machined clip holding pocket doubles production time, but securely holds the made in USA extra flexible spring steel clip- no spinning, scratching the body, or coming loose.
The Machine Era Markup comes pre-loaded with a felt tip Fineliner by Schmidt. We fell in love with this new ink, and thought it worked perfectly with this design. But don’t worry, if that’s not your thing, it still fits standard Pilot g2 cartridges (also included). The internals are the same as our Original. 100% machined. No springs or any other moving parts.
The 1.0mm Schmidt 6040 Fineliner is a Reservoir based refill with a spring loaded felt tip. For those of you who aren't familiar with fineliners- it writes like well flowing (non-permanent) marker.
Features & Specs:
- Machined clip pocket
- Zero tip play
- Postable cap threads on body
- Balanced weight
- Compact size
- No springs or mechanisms
- Weight- 1.6oz

- Length (open)- 4.3 inches

The Stainless steel version is hand polished to perfection. The Black DLC is blasted to a matte finish and coated with aerospace diamond like carbon. The brass has an incredibly clean off the machine finish that we’ve dialed in after much trial and error over the years.
About us and how we operate.
As many of you have noticed, we don’t always keep making our products. Although we frequently get requests for gear we’ve discontinued, our main priority is always to keep improving and releasing new designs. Our machine time is limited, and most of what we manufacture isn’t going to be in production forever.
So if you like what you see, get it while you can. We 100% always run out of stock. We’re a small two man shop and plan to stay that way. That said, we’re super excited about this project and a few others currently in the works. Stay tuned in. Thanks for your continued support!

Risks and challenges
Every project has its challenges. Because we're a machine and fabrication shop, we are better equipped than most to handle issues that come with production manufacturing. We have our own equipment and are able to do the work in house, and maintain control over the processes involved.
The biggest challenge of a project like this is delivering on schedule. In order to accurately calculate manufacturing time and foresee potential problems, we have not only finished a prototype, but completed a short production run and projected accordingly.
To ensure an organized and smooth shipping process we will be using a tried and true fulfillment/logistics company for delivery, and only shipping via USPS 2-3 day First Class.
With quite a few Kickstarter projects under our belt now, we are confident in our ability to manage the entire process and make necessary improvements through the production period.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
