Important Note: There are two versions of the game - Queen of the Hill and Little Monsters. You are free to choose which version you want, based on which theme and art style you prefer. Both games play exactly the same, and are completely compatible with each other!
Queen of the Hill/ Little Monsters is a light game of cards specially designed to tap on the excitement of 'risk-taking elements' from press-your-luck mechanisms. Players take turns drawing as many cards as they want from the deck, scoring a range of 1-5 card points for each card drawn. There is no limit to the amount of times a player can draw cards, but as soon as he draws a Dark One/ Monster Parent, he loses all his card points and is forced to end the turn.
But wait, it is not as easy as it sounds. First of all, cards drawn are secretive and only known to the player drawing them. Players can guess at the total army points of each other by the number of cards they drew, but not the exact army points acquired. A player with 8 cards might only have an actual total of 9 card points while a player who drew 5 cards could already be sitting on 10 card points! This is where players try to match the amount of cards by drawing at least as many cards or more than their opponents in order to ensure their victory.
"The more you push your luck, the more your opponents must push theirs!"
"The more cards you draw without getting the BAD CARD, the higher the probability your opponent will get it next."
And on top of all that...
Whenever a player draws a card, as long as it is not a 'Bad Card', he/she may choose to convert that card into an 'ability' card instead. In doing so, that card no longer gives any card points, but the player can keep that card in his/her hand and use it in a later round to cause chaos or create a favorable situation to win the game. Some effect examples are: Forcing a player to draw more cards even after that player has declared that they will end their turn, or removing cards from a player's zone! Be prepared to enter a 15 minute game of nail-biting excitement as players press their luck. Without greed you cannot win, and with too much greed you end up with nothing...
The following lists the contents of the base game for Little Monsters. Queen of the Hill boasts exactly the same structure of card content but with different pictures and card names.
*Note that Stretch Goals and Social Goals may increase the content of the game beyond the above mentioned.
Here's a complete game of a 5-player session done by our video review team 'Pink Meeple' (a new series of reality game show) that is jam packed with loads of laughter, and amazing player interactions!
As approved by the Child Geek group AND the Parent Geek group on Father Geek!
"Little Monsters is light, fast, and fun. I would recommend it to any family who is looking for a card game that can be played by a wide age range and will most certainly challenge players to think things through. The game play itself is straightforward, but the game’s difficulty is based on an opponent’s craftiness. If you are looking for a game where bluffing is mandatory, misdirection is commonplace, and babies punch each other, do play Little Monsters. Just don’t come crying to me when you lose." -Cyrus, Father Geek
According to one Parent Geek, “The game is fast, fun, easy to teach, easy to play, and does a great job of balancing luck with skill. Perfect for a family game.” So perfect, in fact, that the Parent Geeks overlooked their initial doubts and gave the game their full approval.
Undead Viking Review:
"I have played this at my lunch table, at my work, with my daughter and my wife. We were up and running in 2 minutes. As soon as you are done, you'll want to play it again, and you'll want to play it again, then you'll want to play it again." "A deck of cards with a simple rules set, tough choices, and short playing time. A super filler at its finest!" -Undead Viking

"It's about looking at what other players are doing. While it is SIMPLE, while it is FAST, while it is easy to LEARN, you have to bear these kinds of things in mind - which gives it just that little bit edge of strategy in other card games as well." -Nick, Board Game Brawl

THE DESIGN CORNER:
Everything revolves around the 100 Cards. Tactical players will quickly realize there is a deep strategy behind the meta of the game, where card counting is really important and statistics make up a large part of the game. It boasts a clever matrix that is the result of more than three hundred games from more than ten unique groups of players, from as little as 2 players, to as many as full 6 player sessions. The game always revolves around 100 cards. There are 5 main tiers (1-point thru 5-points) of cards that are designed to appear a certain amount of times each, and they are further broken down with unique abilities that are carefully paired to create situations where 'Player Decision' can really change the game.
This is also not a heavy 'Take That' game. Ability cards are never put directly into your hand for use. They always take 1 round to be 'processed' before going into your hand as ready cards. If you choose to play a very offensive style, you will realize that your hand limit of 5 cards will also cause you to be open for attacks from others. Similarly, if you choose to be very defensive, your hand may not have space for assault cards when the crucial time calls for it. The right balance of attack and defence is a major factor to victory. Read the situation right! Lastly, this is a push-your-luck game. Luck IS part of the game.
EXPANSION SET - WEAPONS OF THE HILL:
Just when you think you've got it all figured out, we throw a monkey wrench into the mix with this awesome expansion! The expansion set will also be produced at the same time as the base set. The only reason we are doing the expansion separately from the base is because of two reasons:
- It is to lower the cost of the game and make it highly accessible to everyone. If you have that little bit more cash and you enjoy such games, the expansion set is an optional change of pace. It is not simply an add-on to the base game.
- It completely changes the game meta and gives veteran players a new challenge all over again. Unlike typical expansion sets, Weapons of the Hill is not intended for adding onto the base set. Instead, you retain the same 100-card size of the game and do partial replacements. Choosing which expansion character to add, you must REPLACE a character from that tier.
Example: You wish to add the Excaliburst, which is a 1-point weapon. Simply add all 9 copies of the Excaliburst to the deck, but REMOVE all 9 copies of the Succubus, which is also 1-point. Effectively, you are replacing the Succubus or the Troll with the Excaliburst card type. In the end, you must always still have just 100 cards in the game deck.
We will WAIVE shipping cost for the expansion set! The base game is required to play the expansion set. The way the expansion cards were designed is purely intended to make players reconsider their style of playing the game all over again.

Risks and challenges
Our artwork is complete except for the background of the characters. As it stands now, the game is 99% complete! So there is minimal risk to everything. We only need the funds to proceed. However with that being said, we do have the expansion artwork to do, but that has already been a work in progress for a few months now and we are finishing up nicely along. We are already experienced in the manufacturing portion thanks to our Hitman Holiday project earlier, which we have successfully sent out across the world, with delays admittedly from factory faults. Should we miss a deadline or see a potential threat to having it delayed, we will not hesitate to inform all backers and attempt immediate rescue actions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
