NOTE: THIS GAME IS LANGUAGE INDEPENDENT!!!
Hmm, the ballistae? They are for the Dragon, of course. What, it wasn’t in your job description? Too bad. You have to first be IN if you want to get OUT. Don’t worry, there will be valiant knights who will come along every so often looking for a fight with the Dragon, and if they like your castle, they just might stay for a bit in case it shows up. Kings will also have a chance passing (let’s not call it something cheesy like fate) and as with the knights, they just might like your castle enough to grace it with their majestic presence.
Huh, princesses? Oh you cheeky one, yes! Princesses could appear too, but they will only stay in the most comfortable of castles – you had better stab some flowers into your concrete floors if you want them to even glance this way! We hear they usually enjoy the color Pink. Old wives' tails? Sorry sir, I have reasonable doubt that while my wife is almost my age, she ain't got no tail.
Castle Dukes is a highly engaging game (trust us, we got lost in the fun of building our castles every single time) of dexterity and strategy for 1 to 4 players and takes as quick as 25 minutes for a solo player to an hour for a group of 4 players.
WE DID IT! We have been funded on DAY 1, no less!! Let's build our very own castle right here on this campaign page!
Stretch Goals Unlocked:
We have unlocked the Great Library! Obviously there's no artwork for it yet hehe, but it will come! And yes! It will definitely have that pedestal and upside down glass jar with a rose inside!
Also, we have fully colored meeples. All 60 of the Guests. YES! We are CRAZY!
The Baby Dragon Cell is yet another strategy among many that could devastate your rival Dukes by forcing that 3rd Dragon Attack. Obviously you will want to ensure you are fully capable of repelling it before pulling this off.
Additionally, we have unlocked the Magic Vines module! This is not a mere 2 or 3 vines add-on. It's 40 vines! As in the spirit with the rest of the game production, it is also not merely 40 copies of the same vine art. Expect a huge variety in the vines, just as the different Floor Tiles are each slightly different, just as the battlements are each slightly different, just as- you get the idea.
They are basically an OPTIONAL variant module players can add to their game. This module increases the difficulty of the Dexterity portion! If you prefer the game to be more Euro, feel free not to use this - but isn't this more FUN!? And yeah, while they look really pretty and they make your castle absolutely more gorgeous than ever, they are really quite useless for the castle owner!
With this module, every time a player places a Floor Tile above Level 1 on any of his 3 Towers, he/she must take a Vine too and immediately place it! The vines are intended to be hung along the edge of a Floor Tile. There are no placement rules other than that they cannot touch the player boards - same as all the other items in the game. So you could actually hang 10 of the vines on the same piece of Floor Tile! We don't recommend that though. So yeah, these pretty ones don't add anything or give any bonus. Instead, they are an extra dexterity item you have to place and watch out for - dropping them also triggers that scary Crumble penalty!
The next unlocked goal is a new exclusive room, called The Round Table!!
As special thanks to all our precious backers who make this game a reality, the Board Game Room is the ultimate tribute to everyone :)
The following is a quick summary of how to play Castle Dukes. It is not intended to be a complete coverage of the rules. For the full rules, download the manual at the end of this section.
A game is played across 9 turns, which are further broken into 3 phases.
1. The Room Phase:
All players gain 5 Coins. Starting from First Player and then in clockwise direction, spend Coins to pick from a pool of Rooms.
2. The Build Phase:
All players simultaneously purchase Pillars, Floor Tiles and Construction Cards with any remaining Coins.
Players who are done with their Coins may build their castle using items from their inventory.
3. The Guest Phase:
Skip this phase during the first 3 turns of the game. Draw the top card of the Guest deck and reveal it. For 1-2 players, resolve the Guest on the top part of the card only. For 3-4 players, resolve both the Guests shown on the card.
On turns 4 and 7, check the top right corner of the Guest card for a Fire icon. If there is one, the Dragon has appeared and will attack everyone! Draw 5 Dragon Damage Chits from the drawbag and choose to resolve an amount of it based on one's castle Defence/ Offence. If the Dragon did not appear during turns 4 and/or 7, it will definitely appear the following turn (turns 5 & 8 respectively). On the last turn of the game (turn 9), check for 1 final Dragon Attack.

GenCon 2016 Alpha Set Public Reviews:
"Looks like a charming and clever gateway with great table presence!" - Richard Ham, Rahdo Runs Thru
"I love the thematic innovation behind adding a subtle dexterity element to a castle-building game!" -Jamey, Stonemaier Games
"Playing it feels like you are playing Alhambra meets Jenga... The artwork on the room cards is really nice — while playing the game, we were constantly looking forward to what new rooms we would discover in the deck." -Naomi Laeuchli, Reviewer on CGR

"We really enjoyed this game. It has a lot of strategy in deciding what pieces to buy when, and the physical component to trying to build up your castle was a lot of fun as well. I had the tallest tower, at five floors but my wife’s four-story tower was the really amazing one, considering that it was leaning further and further the more she build it, and yet it never managed to collapse." -Rob Huddleston, Geekdad Reviewer

"So I like this game, David- Totally unique!" -Jeremy, Man VS Meeple Reviewer
"Ya, it's really good! Like I said, I wasn't really sure I was going to like this, but I do like the combination of the dexterity and the euro. It's certainly a unique combo that we've never seen before." -David, Man VS Meeple Reviewer
Full Video Review of Man VS Meeple:
"From a visual appeal, it looks amazing... You could see what everyone else is doing, so lots of good decision making in the actual strategy of the game, but it adds on that whole dexterity element too!" -Dan King, Gameboy Geek Reviewer
Full Video Review of Gameboy Geek:
"They went out and left the old, and they found bagels- I don't think that's the expression. I like the game - That's what I'm trying to say. It's different, it's new, it's unique!" -Forrest Bower, Bower's Game Corner
Full Video Review of BGC:
"I do like when people take the dexterity element and incorporate strategy mechanisms into it as well. And sometimes those things work- Like this! It works REALLY well. And sometimes they don't. So when I find one that works really awesome, like Castle Dukes, I get pretty excited about it!" -Lance Myxter, Undead Viking Reviewer

You can add any of the following items by simply increasing your pledge amount with the appropriate values. We will send you a survey after the campaign ends to confirm which items you paid for. P.S: We strongly recommend getting the "Inside Castles" book, which features all the gorgeous artwork of Castle Dukes in clear HD. It is a 48-page thick book that explains medieval life and how each separate room played its part in that era.

Yes, we are retailer friendly! Talk to us at Sales@MedievaLords.com
YES! We will be shipping friendly~ EU will be shipped from within!
We will only be charging shipping after the campaign ends, through Paypal directly, which in turn accepts VISA and MASTER as well. We are a game studio, not a logistics company. We do not make money from shipping. In fact we often lose money from shipping due to subsidising our supporters on their game deliveries. Castle Dukes is no different! We will also be subsidising $10 USD on all shipping costs. We will be charging the shipping cost directly as is, minus $10 subsidy. As such, we cannot confirm the shipping costs now until we have the actual price. Rest assured we will do our best to acquire the cheapest but most reliable way. The last thing we want is for our precious backers to get a rude shock from shipping costs! So here is a rough estimation on the shipping costs you should likely be paying depending on where you are from: (THESE ESTIMATES ARE PRETTY CLOSE ALREADY!)
- Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, USA - US$15 (Before subsidy $25)
- Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Malaysia - US$20 (Before subsidy $30)
- EU (This is EU friendly!) - US$25 (Before subsidy $35)

While there is always a risk, and while we are always learning, we will not hesitate to inform all backers and attempt immediate rescue actions should we miss a deadline or see a potential threat to having it delayed.
If you have been an ardent supporter of Medieval Lords, you will know we put maximum respect to all our backers and attempt to go every mile for everyone of you.
