@Asbjørn - I checked out the tag-connect cable which while it is a good idea, it is quite expensive. In fact it costs more that what my PIC programmer cost - so I will just leave it as the basic 5 pad connector.
The solderpads could be replaced with an footprint for tag-connect cable http://www.tag-connect.com/
@Hellspark - the ICSP port has been placed on the top however it is completely flat unless you decide to solder something to it.
I have no problem with these except for number 3. I like the idea in number 3 but I think one side of the ruler should be flat because if you forget the solders pads are there then you may either damage them or something they are resting on.
All very sensible changes
Oops, that should have been: "I'm not backing this for its novelty"
I proposed the 1/16th graduations, and would not want it changed to 1/10th. That would reduce its usefulness for most people. I'm it backing this for its novelty.
Don't overwork it - fantastic project. I'll throw my hat in for the novelty of 1/10th - would be keen not to have anything on the reverse that would stop the surface being flat
I just pledged 2 before finding about these upgrades.
Great stuff, it is a fun project and a god gift. I like the ICSP (pretty sure we can find something fun to do with).
Regarding the symbol on the logic gate, maybe put only the symbol.... :-) nice way to learn!!
Like all these suggestions, but I also think 1/10" is more relevant to electronics than 1/16"
2: I personally think the inches scale having 1/10 gradations adds to the novelty. I've got enough rulers that are 1/16, but none that are 1/10.
3: If it adds to the manufacturing cost, I'd rather you not add this port.
BTW, you've got some other cool projects at your website!
all proposed changes sound reasonable and a good idea - it simply shows that this is a great project - changed my pledge from 2 to 5 DigiRule
No objections at all. Still hoping for a longer ruler, though...
I'm for it. Nice additions and they make totally sense.
