Who is Nate?
I'm, Nate Polly, a born and bred Lexingtonian with a lifelong passion for coffee. One of my first experiences with coffee was the creation of a business plan while I was still in high school. Even when I was younger I knew someday I would own a coffee business.
I worked at, managed and started coffee shops for a large unnamed international coffee company, all while earning a business and marketing degree. With years of experience on my side I jumped into the field of roasting and created Nate’s Coffee.
I have memberships with both the Roaster’s Guild and Specialty Coffees Association of America. Coffee has been my life for more than fifteen years. Without it I might still be asleep.
WHY IS NATE DOING A KICKSTARTER?
Nate’s Coffee has outgrown its current location. After three years in business I need to expand and this is what it will take:
I need to purchase a newer, bigger, more efficient roaster to handle the volume of coffee orders.
Space is needed so people can experience the art of coffee roasting.
Newer and more unique coffees need to be brought to Lexington so I can provide the freshest coffee from all over the world.
A chance to work with other businesses to create compilations all surrounding coffee. (i.e. bottled cold brew, chocolate covered coffee beans, cooking and cocktail recipes)
WHERE WILL NATE’S ROASTERY BE?
After a year of searching, the perfect location has been found. This space will be transformed into the perfect roastery: a coffee lab, cupping/tasting station, offices and plenty of room for coffee. The majority of the construction is being done by The Larkin Group and with the help of friends and family, we will be putting the finishing touches on the walls and floors.
HOW WILL ROASTING BE DONE?
The perfect roaster is being built by Ambex Roasting Company from Clearwater, FL. I am eager to order my roaster. It is a 15 kilo, Kentucky blue with chrome plating, commercial drum roaster.

Risks and challenges
I've passed my 3-year anniversary providing great coffee. My funding goals aren't huge but success will mean that I can:
• Buy the larger roaster I need in a timely manner.
• Install the new roaster.
• Meet the needs of our growing coffee culture.
The main risks to Nate’s Coffee include:
• An inability to meet the ever-growing demand for Nate’s Coffee.
• Failure to thrive.
