About this project
Times for SofaCON are in GMT
Remember the good old days of 2013? Back then, no matter where you were in the world, you could join with fellow science fiction fans for a day of talks, interviews, readings, trivia, and fellowship. Back in 2013, StarShipSofa sponsored its first-ever international, interactive SofaCON. That was a great day, wasn't it?
Wait a minute. We're science fiction fans. We look AHEAD, not BEHIND.
And that's appropriate, because the good old days are getting even better.
Coming in 2015, StarShipSofa will bring you not one day but two: two days of fantastic talks, interviews, readings, trivia, and fellowship with some of the most stellar names in the SF scene. That's right, SofaCON is back: twice as long and twice as brilliant, with twice the SF attitude. From the comfort of your own home anywhere on Earth (and possibly other planets as well), you can be a part of the most innovative and exciting convention there is with an unbeatable guest list and schedule. No Sofanaut will want to miss this. It's a celebration of all the reasons we love the genre and its community.
Join us, won't you?
We have the ever popular lecture by Dr Amy H Sturgis
Why do we keep returning to 221B Baker Street? Sherlock Holmes may have turned 160 years old in 2014, but today he’s more popular than ever. Join Dr. Amy H. Sturgis as she offers a multimedia overview of the Great Detective’s lasting relationship with science fiction. Understanding why Holmes appeals to SF audiences and how he has been incorporated into the SF tradition offers useful insights into the timeless appeal and freshness of Holmes. Subjects discussed will include Arthur Conan Doyle’s SF work and Holmes’ “science fiction sensibility,” Holmes in SF literature by other authors, Holmes’ repeated appearances in the SF universe of H.P. Lovecraft in particular, and Holmes as he has been reimagined in other SF media (film, television, etc.). Come if convenient. If inconvenient, come all the same.

Risks and challenges
I will keep our funders up to date with progress of SofaCON 2 with updates. If any problems do come up, I'll share them with all SofaCON 2 supporters.
All SofaHuddles will be down to the writer to arrange the date. This might be or might not be around the time of the SofaCON 2. The dates for these private huddles will be all down to the individual writers.
A couple of notes about the Tuckerizations:
1. No guarantee as to in what capacity (or even what book) the character features, and 2. writing books and publishing them takes years -- while the AUTHORS will endeavour to use the name of the character somewhere, it may have to wait until a novel in an appropriate genre is due.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
