Overview:
Alzerium is an MMORPG that will have many Lovecraftian horror elements within its lore and game-play, but not only that as we will be taking the best parts out of many of the games we love, keeping what works and discarding what doesn't. Within the world of Alzerium there will be 3 main factions who are engaged in a chaotic war, a war that are driven by the players. Players will have the opportunity to fight for the existing factions or start their own and join the global war, fighting for city control and expansion of their territory in a vast, wild world. But a great shadow has begun to awake and the drums of war may be the last thing this world hears.
Clans:
Within the world of Alzerium the players will drive the political and international turmoil found within the world. The way that players will be able to achieve this is though our Clan system. Clans within Alzerium will start off as small groups of people who enjoy playing with each other, these newly formed clans will work much like bandits, a group of people who set up a small camp and interrupt trade routes or take on contracts to cause trouble for one or both of two warring factions, or to collect a bounty on someones head. Once your clan has built up a sustainable settlement and a name for itself, you will then be granted with more diplomatic opportunities such as declaring war on opposing clans or making peace with a clan you are currently engaged with. As you progress as a clan you start to become a nation, taking over those who oppose you, gaining new functionality such as trade agreements, alliances, and taxes. We want those who lead a clan to feel like a real leader, someone whose actions can make or break an nation, creating a time of prosperity or poverty for those who follow them.
Trade:
We took struggled for a while with trying to come up with a good trade system within Alzerium, and after a long time of though we decided to take an example from the real world economy. The world of Alzerium is filled with precious materials such as iron, lumber, etc… But no one place will have all of their needs located at their feet and in order to craft the best gear you would need these materials that are found scattered all about the world. So while you may survive without trade you won't be able to flourish without it. Some of these rare materials will be things such as various ores, herbs, and animals. Trade also plays a part in promoting combat as you will drop all of your trade goods upon death, encouraging world PvP and the hunting for other players.
Combat:
Combat in Alzerium will be a fast, skill intensive, first person combat, much like the game of Chivalry, but with an introduction to magic spells and abilities. Alzerium will also take into account of charter skill progression with each of the weapon types, learning much of the attacks near instantaneously, and slowly unlocking special techniques or stances as you gain better proficiency with the women, making you more in tune with how that weapon works in combat. One of the ways that we plan to implement this is where say you pick up an foil, you will use it much in the same way you use any other sword, but you will learn the fencing stance that makes your use of the weapon in a way that highlights its strengths, such as in the foil’s case, a bunch of fast stabbing attacks, instead of a slow sweeping action for other swords. Swordplay is a very important aspect of combat as if you don't parry or block attacks you will fall quickly no matter who you are
Classes:
Alzerium has a different class system than most MMO’s as where there isn't really a class system at all, but instead guilds that grants you abilities related to a certain class. These abilities will be obtained through a story-like quest chain in a guild related to that class, such as gaining stealth halfway through the rouge questline. This, in hope will create a diverse and in-depth class roleplay that is associated with each of these guilds.
Endgame:
While being able to advance your clan’s empire, join in giant PvP battles or small skirmishes, and continue through your class’ quest line, players will also be able to group up for some dungeon crawling, take up a trade to become a master craftsman, or participate in raiding. All of these endgame features will be talked about in more detail as the project progresses.

Risiken und Herausforderungen
Some challenges that we face will be mainly associated with not having enough money to maintain and finish the project. But we hope to avoid this by opening an public beta, where you'll be able to work with us to advance our game as your feedback will drive our game production. This will also allow us to maintain income and grow as our popularity rises and the game becomes more complete. This will be shown in ways such as releasing the combat alpha to our detonators soon after being funded, giving those who donated a way to help guide our hand and enhance the game's overall experience and mechanics.
