I plan to build a 16' fire-breathing dragon, with a 25' wingspan entirely out of steel. I hope to bring the steel to life, depicting gesture, detail, tension, and immediacy. Each scale will be individually cut, and spooned out with the hammer. Eyes will glow with LED lights. Whiskers and eyebrows will be forged. Hands and feet will be complete with talons that will put fear into all children. The dragon will be welded over an armature constructed from pipe and flat stock. The piece will deconstruct into 5 pieces for transportation. Inside will be a remote controlled flame thrower called a "fire fly", used to create special effects in concerts and films, to shoot flames over 6' out of the dragon's mouth. All this is in my skill set, but I need the funding to complete it. Once completed I will parade it around to all of my shows, to show my sponsors the piece that they helped create. The dragon will be my center piece at the 2013 NorthWest Flower and Garden Show. I will be posting updates, so please follow my progress. Thanks.
Special thanks to Michael and Daniel McCurdy, and Michael McCurdy Sr. for the video and music.
