What is it?
Build A World combines the most beautiful graphics you could imagine with a sandbox construction game. You enter a brand new world with modern tools and with the ability to make modern machines, buildings and other constructions. An online game run by the new BAW engine. It's a modern game in a modern world.
What does it look like?
When the game development started the aim was to make an astonishingly beautiful world. We think we have done that.
How do you play it?
BAW can be played alone, or online with friends and foes. The online function is one of the key feature of the game. Each player has his or her own online server in addition to LAN servers, so that it is possible to invite other players into your world, or join theirs.
The world you play in is randomly generated and endless in all directions. How you play is only really limited by your imagination.
What do you do?
The world comes ready with a huge amount of natural resources for you to find and collect: iron, rock, sand, copper, gold, coal, bauxite etc.
Your job as a world builder is to refine and manufacture these resources into building materials like wood, concrete, bricks, asphalt, steel, glass etc. for machines, houses and any other sorts of constructions, you can imagine.
Some of these machines and constructions already exist as blueprints in the game, and just need to be assembled, but a lot is up to your imagination. Can you build the next World Wonder?
The whole construction section is supported by another key feature, the Online Models Library, which allows the players to save constructions and models, and exchange models with other players. The autogenerated worlds can be entirely made of the players models, for example a large city populated with player-created houses and buildings.
In the end you will design your world just as you want it.
Besides natural resources, electricity is part of the games 'economy'. To keep everything running in the world players must construct power sources like wind turbines solar cells oil pumps with rigs and even nuclear power plants. There will also be a pollution damage factor build in, so that the cleaner the power source, the less pollution and damage to the environment. So use the energy wisely or face the consequences.
We currently have the first version of our intelligent renewable energy electricity generation running for use in your world, which is a great feature and very unique.
While building your world you have to survive attacks from wild animals like sharks, bears, wolves, alligators, snakes and so forth. The BAW world will in time be filled with all kinds of animals like birds, cows, horses, fish, rabbits, lions, tigers, whales and so on.
But the real challenge is to face the natural disasters like volcanoes, earthquakes and forest fires that will occur at random. Be ready!
The regions in the world will be inspired by the real world – including Europe, Asia, The Americas and The Poles. In there you will find different deserts, jungles mountains, oceans etc. Let us know where you’d like to go next by voting.
Build A World will offer different game modes; Creative modes, which is just the player and the natural world, or Conflict mode in which players can work together or fight each other for land, resources and constructions with numerous weapons. You can also play team vs. team of clan vs. clan.
Here at BAW we think that playing with others and collaborating in the world together is great fun.
In order to make this totally easy for everyone we have made it so simple and quick to do. With one click of a button you have a cloud server for you to run your world in.
No complex firewall rules to setup, no having to leave your computer on all the time and of course no slow internet connections impacting your game play. Not to mention expensive hosting options and complex setups.
Our servers will do all this for you. You just have to play and create amazing worlds that your friends will want to visit.
BAW offers real physics and a fully modifiable and destructible world. If a tree is cut down, it will fall, if a part of a mountain is drilled, it will crash down. Gravity. Just like the real world.
The sound effects and music in BAW are high quality made by Merv from the band Eat Static. The sound engine is 3D, so the user can hear from where in the world the sound is coming from. Also it is possible to, for example, close a door when inside a house, and the user won't be able to hear the wind or birds outside. When you walk into a tunnel, you can actually hear where the tunnel opening is. The sound system is totally flexible and will work with any type of construction you have made.
Where do we want to take this project?
The real world equals real challenges. We want to make Build a World as close to the real world as possible, with as many of the real world phenomena, mechanics and wonders in the game as we can manage. In a sandbox the real world might be even more fun than anything from the realms of fantasy, and requires just as much from your imagination to deal with.
The current powersystems in BAW are very flexible and easy to use. The user is able to connect power-producing machines, and power-consuming machines or blocks by just attaching power lines between them. Entire power systems can be interconnected, or disconnected on the fly. We want to expand this system with even more machines and constructions that interact with the world. We want players to be able to build a fully working metropolis, with power plants, electricity and a night light to envy.
As for movement and 'transport' in the world, in time we will be adding user-defined energy consuming vehicles, trains, planes, hot-air balloons submarines and many more.
Animals are to be a part of the natural world. Currently we have a shark, a wolf and a bear, but we want to add plenty more animals for the different zones of the world, so they appear in the natural habitat. Also it will be possible to capture wild animals and tame them, or put them in your own Zoo.
Farming and animal household has been a big request from our testers, so will want to add a full farming aspect, where players can grow crops and harvest. Of course influenced by the effects of the weather and seasons.
As for gaming modes, we are working on teammode and clanmode, which will enable two (or more) players to share inventory, constructions, tools etc. This will be especially interesting in team vs. team mode, or clan vs. clan game modes.

Player achievement and ranking system.
On top of the real world goal, we are adding 'future technologies'. Technologies that are not quite here yet, but could be possible in the next 100 years. How about a Force Field Generator. Some things are just to much fun not to have!
To simulate the real world, we are working hard to integrate technology that produce visual light effects the same way the real world works. The new lightning system is using 'Spherical Harmonics Irradiance Transfer' for support of insane amounts of lights and global illumination. The aim here is have believeable realtime real world light and shadows. Some of this technology will run direcly on the GPU for maximum speed performance. Graphically and technologically we want to take it as far as possible to make the world look as good as possible, and in time we could even run the game on highend gaming consoles like the PS4 and next gen XBOX.
We are currently also working with a dedicated team of school teachers, and our aim is to have maps, tools and puzzles that can be used for teaching in schools. The educational part will be free to use, with no cost. Just register and use it.
Currently BAW runs on Windows. Aim is to have it running on Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and PS4. If we reach £100,000 we will start on the Mac AND Linux Clients straight away.
Why are we asking for your help?
We have a very flexible and highly technical engine well underway. We have been developing it and testing it for over a year and feel it is the right time to bring it to the world. But we'd like your help to do this. By contributing you get to give us direct input into what features you like and don't like. To shape how the world will evolve and what order things should be delivered in.
You can also tell us what you don't like, we want to hear it all! This is a rare opportunity to both get access to the game first and to influence the very creation of the game itself.
What is your money going to do?
We want to bring more resources into the team, so more developers, more designers and start letting you explore and try the worlds. This will require environments, support staff, caffeine drips and maybe some pets to keep us awake (for in the game!).

As with all software that is pushing boundaries and having to overcome technical limitations in interesting and novel ways there may always be some small delays by un-foreseen conditions.
