MCAD Art Students Collaborate to Create a Unique Deck of Playing Cards
Art Students Work Hard & Play Harder
Students here at Minneapolis College of Art and Design are no strangers to finger-cramping, eye-straining all-nighters.
With separate majors of advertising, animation, comic art, drawing and painting, entrepreneurial studies, filmmaking, fine arts, furniture, graphic design, illustration, photography, print paper book, sculpture and web and multimedia, collaborations that span all of these artistic gaps are few and far between.
This unique deck of cards is not only a way for us art students to collaborate and learn from each other but it is also a way for us to apply our talents and what we've learned to something that's creative, fun, and not strictly school-related.
With this deck of cards we hope to revamp classic card games and make the boring, standard 'poker deck' something interesting to look at in and of itself. We're all very excited to offer you art that is much more tangible and usable than your standard artwork mediums.
Here's a taste of some of the artwork going into the deck so far!
Risks and challenges
When it comes to getting artists together and giving them all a deadline, obstacles will tend to abound, but we've gathered together a very dedicated group of students who are so excited about this project that we're bound to push through deadline issues.
If we can obtain the funds that we need to make this happen, all that is left is printing the cards through makeplayingcards.com and printing the 4x6" cards and shipping them out to you. We're prepared to tackle any issues that may arise.
We're more than confident that with the funding we can create an eclectic, unique deck of cards that will display the wide variety of talent we've amassed here to make this deck.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
