Divided Kingdom 2: 'The Crossing'.
After an experiment goes horrifically wrong, Dan must escape his captors and flee to the colonies. Join us in Divided Kingdom Issue 2.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Mon, June 3 2019 8:58 AM UTC +00:00.
A country ravaged by terror, civil war and environmental catastrophe. Out of the flooded slums will step a disparate band of renegades determined to put an end to the murderous dictatorship of billionaire Derek Lock.
These rebels will take the war to the enemy in a desperate bid to free the enslaved people of Britain, by any means necessary. But with the full force of the military state bearing down on them, can they retain their humanity? Can they even survive?
PREVIOUSLY IN DK1...We were in introduced to Terry Black, a low level mechanic at BritCorp Industries, the only remaining employer in New Birmingham. Overworked, underpaid and a prisoner of the BritCorp Military State, he fights to retain his sanity against the soul crushing work regime and the brutal horrors of what his country has become.
Meanwhile at the same factory complex, Dan Gardner, an analyst is called from his duties when he receives a security memo ordering his immediate attendance at a team meeting.
During the meeting, each attendee opens a letter that promises each of them that a large amount of credits will be sent to their account upon completion of a task. No actual task is mentioned except the demand to sign the letter and put it back in the envelope re-sealed. Everyone does so and as the last one is licked, the group succumb to a sudden outbreak of abnormally violent and terrifying behaviour.
Many of the test subjects perish horribly and one of the remaining survivors is convinced Dan is to blame. As he confronts him a security team finally arrives to shutdown the experiment.
Divided Kingdom 2 - The Crossing.
In issue 2 we pick up right where we left off. After a brutal encounter with the soldiers and scientists that are sent to sedate and restrain him, Dan is aided by a mysterious ally through a radio, who helps him acquire a disguise and sneaks him aboard a passenger ferry headed for Colony 12, one of the BritCorp workers settlements on the mainland.
Confused, scared, alone and now a wanted man, Dan is forced to put faith in this strangers promise and hope the highly trained marines on board don't see through his disguise.
But there are much greater threats to be concerned about. These waters are teaming with pirate and terrorist activity and as the sun sets, smoke and sails begin to fill the horizon...
WHAT TO EXPECT:
It has been over 4 years since we brought you issue 1 so after such a gap, best believe we are bringing out the big guns this time! First of all, Issue 2 will have 29 full pages of delicious content and we have recruited a new mercernary to the BritCorp ranks. The mighty MJ Hiblen will be our interior artist this time, with the ever amazing Adam Oehlers crafting the stunning cover work. With this powerhouse combo of artists coupled with a hell of a lot more writing from Andy and Bill we really feel that this issue is going to blow your minds and answer a lot of questions that we know fans had when we left you with our mysterious cliffhanger at the end of DK1.
WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE:
Risks and challenges
Due to the experience we have gained and lessons we have learned from our previous crowdfunding projects (both funded and failed) we are aware of all the challenges that come with such an undertaking and therefore any risks that come with it, for us and our pledgers, are extremely minimal.
When DK1 was funded in 2014 we did not have anywhere near the amount of social media platforms at our disposal and we still met and exceeded our target by over £1000. Our rewards were also a lot more complicated and time consuming, and although awesome and thoroughly enjoyed by our pledgers, we are scaling things back this time, keeping it simple and achievable without losing any of the quality our fans are so fond of.
