About this project
HELLO, MY NAME IS INGRID FERRIS
AND I'M MAKING A RECORD.
My first, full length solo CD of my own originals titled Deep True - with a release date of December 2012. Early editions will be sent to everyone who joins this campaign.
Right now I am deeply involved in the planning, and creative process. I have composed all of the songs for this album and I am already half way finished with arranging each of the pieces! (And more songs just keep coming! I may have to do a double album! :) I am in love with every single song that I am putting on my new CD, that's my criteria, and I think you'll love them too!
THIS RECORDING IS LOCALLY GROWN
I have been collaborating for years with most of the musicians who will be recording on this album, and you hear it when we play together, there is fluidity and intuition in our playing together that makes for music that transcends into something far greater then a singular melody could create. I am so extremely blessed to be working with musicians of this caliber! And we all live here in the Pacific Northwest !!!! ( You know, the land of Starbucks, Microsoft, Jimmy Hendrix & Nirvana, and now....ta da! Ingrid Ferris :)
I CAN'T DO THIS RECORDING WITH OUT YOU! WILL YOU JOIN ME?
By backing this project you will get to be in on the ground floor of the creation of a great CD, and you will help to launch my music out into the air waves! You can say, " I knew her when!"
For an emerging artist without a label, producing a CD is expensive. Here are some of the areas where your contributions will be used:
- Musicians ( they really deserve every penny they get paid!)
- CD graphics
- CD Duplication
- Shipping Costs
- Cost of West Coast Tour
IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ME
( Click on link above to watch me perform The Pavane by Gabriel Fuare)
Surprise! I don't just sing, though anyone who hangs out around me for long finds out that that's what I love to do the most! Besides being a trained classical singer, ( with a ton of folk, celtic, jazz, etc. influence!) I am also a classically trained oboist, and have also formally studied jazz and world music! Here's a short video of one of our CD release concerts taken at the now, sadly, defunct Cherry Street Loft:
You can also hear some nice snippits of songs that I've recorded and released with my band Gaelica, a.k.a Butterfly Rodeo. Some of my favorites are:
Woods Girl Ballad ( My brother Rick wrote the lyrics ! Cool huh?)
Chi Min Giamhradh ( I sing it in Scots Gaelic.)
Walk Away ( one of my originals and will be re-recorded for my solo album!)
Lay Me Down ( also one of my originals that I will be re-recording for the solo album!)
You can read up more on me, my education and back ground as well as the other musicians I am working with by going to:
And I've also begun a Blog dedicated to my experience here, with all of you at Kickstarter as well as the inside scoop on my creative process and my thoughts about life and the world in general. Please join me:
And finally, if you happen to be on Facebook, ( and who isn't?) please visit my page, and 'Like' it! I will be so happy to have another friend!
*And if you like everything you've heard here, please forward this to all of your friends and family, colleagues, and others, so that we can become connected through my music and through this great Kickstarter adventure! Thank you!
To all of you for visiting my page and reading to the end! Thank you! I truly hope that we can collaborate together to make this recording a big success!
To all of my audience from the past and into the future, who give such incredible support and deep appreciation, I am doing this for all of you, because you made it so very clear to me with your smiles, tears and applause, that you want my singing career to launch.
My heart felt love & gratitude!
I also want to heap praise and gratitude onto Chuck Oldright for his AMAZING video work! For patiently waiting for the goats to chew so they'd look like they were talking. For riding on the front loader of the tractor to get that perfect shot! Chuck is a pro and I absolutely recommend him. You can find Chuck by going to: www.theturningleaf.net
Thank you to my besties, Catherine and Heidi for being the voices of Coco and Victoria, as well as for being my 'handlers' for the day. And for being genuinely in support of my musical endevours! And to Monna, who sits in the center of goodness in her sweet little kitchen and says a prayer for us all. ( As well as feeds us lunch on a regular basis!) Thank you!!!
