Set to Glenn Miller’s Chattanooga Choo Choo this music video will bring well deserved attention to Chattanooga's history & the 1940's
We need your support! If we don't reach our goal we get zip, zilch, nothing!
We've got some pretty cool prizes to offer including being an extra and attending the premiere! Check them out on the right -------->
Breakdown of expenses:
This is the bare minimum! We have already spent $1,200 of our own money for the score, costumes and more and will be footing a lot more of the bill ourselves like travel expsenses. If we do not reach over our goal the biggest detriment will be quality, as we will only be able to hire a novice production team, and will have to limit extras, as well as hire a fairly amatuer band for our recording. We didn't include that expense and will find a way to cover it ourselves if we can't reach a goal higher than our minimum. But if we raise enough we can hire a professional orchestra, potentially Chattanooga's very own to bring them some free publicity as well and keep the talent local, and we would would really appreciate that!
- $600 Hire the vintage steam train (fuel, engineer, time etc.)
- $1,000 Hire the big band
We will be hiring a band to help us do a custom cover of Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo. Our purchased score is the extended version transcribed from the movie Sun Valley Serenade. Our biggest difference being that a female (myself) will be the main lead vocalist with Landon as secondary lead vocal. Check out how it sounds below! Landon and I, with the quartet, will get on an authentic vintage steam train at the same station used in the Jackie Robinson movie 42, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. We will sing Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo while travelling on the train, finishing with a flashy big band swing routine at Chattanooga's original train station that is still standing. The dance will be choreographed by nationally known dance insrtuctor and 3 Time US Proffesional 9 Dance Finalist Nathan Simler. This music video will include real vintage clothes, classic 1940's cars, a great tune, and a vintage steam train! What's not to like...?
Watch this video for a sample of my singing:
This was the first time I've been recorded singing and was just for fun so obviously it is not a proffesional recording.
Where did the idea come from?
I am in love with the 1940's as well as music classics Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo song. I and had been singing the song for nearly 3 weeks straight every time I was in my car while imagining being on board a vintage steam train, when Landon called and said "Hey, we should do a vintage photoshoot down at the Vintage Chattanooga Choo Choo Station" I squeaked with excitment and said "Why don't we do a music video?! We'd get to sing, dress up vintage, celebrate the 1940's, Chattanooga is a great city we could bring some publicity, I love vintage trains (we have a full size cab in our basement), not to meniton it's just a great song!". With much appreciated faith in my creative abilities and determination, he said "Why not?" and it went from there.
How are we going to tackle this?
A step at a time. Or several....With no dance experience, and no experience in hiring a crew it may seem impossible to pull something like this off. But I have never said no to a creative idea just because it scares me. I love doing things that scare me, the results are often extremly rewarding and memorable experiences. Often the scariest thing is knowing where to start and we have an extremly great start!
We have gotten our quartet hired, have an excellent start on costumes, have purchased the full score, have gotten ahold of the right person at the Tennessee Valley Railroad to run the train for us as well as connect us with the right production company since he has worked with film industries for years including recently for the Jackie Robinson movie. I sluethed around until I found the right choreographer, the nationally known Nathan Simler, to give us a swing routine you all will love! He has an incredible success rate with his students, many of them going on to win high places for his custom choreographed routines and he's going to make this happen for us. We can't wait and we hope you can't either!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Many things happen that you can't forsee, and for those I have no idea until they hit. But for now, the only delays I can forsee would be to have to postpone the shoots due to weather. But since we will have a 3 week window when all the cast is in the area this will not be a major issue. Raising enough funds to hire a proffesional produciton crew will help to assure efficient handling and completion in that department. Other than that, I know the song by heart, the train is waiting and the quartet is ready to go!! The biggest challange will be learning the dance, but I know I can do it with such a great instructor.
