As an Indonesian woman who grew up in Switzerland and who studied in the capital of Art, Paris, I always embrace and try to harmonize contrasting cultures through my work. I realize today that this sense of union in diversity comes from the national motto of my country of heritage: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity). These words are the core of all my inspirations and my motivation to believe in creating a project open to the world.
MATERIALS and TECHNIQUES
As seen in the video, IRMA WY designs are created through different hand techniques such as embroidery, painting, silver metal shaping and stone carving. I use minerals that are mainly sourced in Indonesia in order to focus as much as I can on local materials. The main gemstones I am currently using are black Jade, Agate and Jasper stones that are known for their protection properties, creativity, gentleness and more. The petals are made out of end-of-stock or unused silk fabrics that I get from natural dyes factories (TARUM Bali for exemple), designer ateliers or end-of-stock textiles from high fashion brands which I find in Paris when I visit that city. During the time when I was working at Lanvin fashion house as a jewelry and accessories design assistant, I gained experience in crafting petals out of silk fabric; today I explore this technique further through my own creative vision.
We are currently four key persons working on the FLORESIA jewelry collection and I am on the way to meet more talented Indonesian craftsmen to work with us in the near future; each one of them giving his/her touch of personality.
THE FUNDS THAT WILL BE RAISED WITH YOUR HELP WILL ALLOW ME TO:
- engage and train artisans and a creative assistant to enable consistent production of jewelry;
- participate in different commercial events and jewelry shows;
- improve my website in order to provide more and better updates to you on my latest news and also to give you a better shopping experience
THE FLORESIA COLLECTION
(This TISHA petal ribbon is a special Kickstarter creation to the collection)
Thanks to Tisha Sara for her creative help in the past month, to Denny Chrisna for his amazing work on the video, and to all my family and friends for their continued support in my work for this project.
Thank you for taking the time to read and discover this project of a lifetime dream.
Risks and challenges
As in any ambitious and innovative project, my team and I could face some challenges down the road. We could have some delays during the production of our handcrafted and unique jewelry. At the same time, we do not want to compromise on quality to deliver as fast as possible. To overcome this challenge, we are setting up a workflow process to keep our delivery promises and quality standard.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
