An update from the festival trail

Posted by High Tech, Low Life (Creator)

Dear Friends,

Getting HTLL out into the world has been an unbelievable experience. Since the premiere at Tribeca we've screened the film in Boston, Toronto, Little Rock, Sydney, Sheffield and London and we're looking forward to upcoming events in Woods Hole, Seoul, Tapei, Milwaukee, Copenhagen, Stockholm, St. Louis, Warsaw and beyond!

Along the way, the film has been recognized with several awards; The Special Jury Prize for Documentary at the International Film Festival of Boston, the Golden Rock for Best Documentary at the Little Rock Film Festival and the Emerging International Filmmaker Award at Open City Docs Fest. Many thanks to all of you for believing in the film first!

AND, we're absolutely thrilled to announce that HIGH TECH, LOW LIFE will be part of the 2013 season of PBS's remarkable broadcast series, POV. We couldn't be more excited to be part of such a special program and will definitely be sharing more on this in the future!

Hearing all the discussion and reactions to Zola and Tiger Temple's story has been the most amazing part of this process. We know they're grateful for the overwhelming response, and comments like these, taken from Twitter, encourage us as well:

@thefilmatelier: Tiger Temple, we watched High Tech-Low Life and I just wanted to tell you how much you inspired us, you are a wonderful man! Best wishes from London

@destroyapathy: @HighTechFilm highlight of my #SheffDocFest so far. Well rounded, fun, but full of socio-cultural significance. Big up Zola & Tiger Temple

@jo_gunn: Absolutely amazed by @hightechfilm, it really moved me and showed me a part of China I didn't even know I didn't know. Loved it!

Tiger and Zola are always happy to hear from you so feel to drop them a message on Twitter here and here!

In addition to festivals, we've had three successful educational screenings at Hunter College, Maryland Institute College of Art and Massachusetts College of Art. So drop us a line if you are an educator and would like to set up a screening at your school.

And, if you'd like to see the film at a theater near you, please click on our new Request a Screening link! The more requests that are made, the better chance we have of setting up some kind of theatrical or community event down the line.

And as always, please continue to follow us on Facebook and Twitter and ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!

Many thanks! Steve, Trina & the HTLL Team
