The Workers’ Cafe is a new coffee-shop space opening in Hackney’s fashion district for creative professionals to be in a productive, relaxed environment. Like a gym for work, members are free to come and work during the week in a distraction-free, pre-paid zone.
- No more pressure to buy yet another coffee.
- No more hogging the one seat with a power supply.
- No more wifi frustrations and no more crazy old guy trying to talk to you.
This is a space for you to get what you need to get done, done.
Membership will be just £5 per working day, cheaper than two cups of coffee. Oh, and there’s free coffee.
We'll open on June 20th, there'll be all-you-can-drink, good quality filter coffee as well as all your usual coffee options that members will get a discount on. There'll also be a tasty food offering - the soon to be famous, Workers' Chicken Sandwich. It's gonna be great.
The space is just 10 minutes walk from Hackney overground station, we'll have space for 40 workers at a time and a total member cap so you'll always be able to get a spot and you won't be far from the hustle and bustle of East London.
Risks and challenges
We've got pretty low initial costs, we just need to buy in a bunch of machines and start paying salaries to the chef, etc.
The main issue will be getting the first batch of members, but once there's a little community of freelancers sharing ideas in a co-working space, that will attract others.
If we grow too quickly we'll need to start looking for a bigger space within the year but this is a good problem to have and we'll make sure that relocation is a decision that's made by us and our members together.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
