We aspire to provide the very best bicycling jeans, trousers and shorts. We won't make that claim but hope our customers will. The money we raise will allow us to put our designs into production and deliver them to our project backers. The more money we are able to raise the more products we can bring to you.
At $30,000 we can produce and deliver our Project offerings.
At $80,000 we can add additional colors and fabrics to the Osloh Line.
In addition to our Project offering, all our project backers will be given the opportunity to purchase any and all Osloh products in the future at "Friends and Family" pricing via a discount code matched to your email address.
Risks and challenges
We have finished our first set of designs, chosen fabrics, sourced our manufacturing and had our samples made up (these are the images you see in our photos). Our biggest challenge is in building an order book that allows us to hit the green button on production!
Many manufacturers prioritize production runs based on the Purchase Order quantity-so the more jeans we can order the better service we receive. Our Kickstarter Project will determine this. At $30,000 we can go into production and any amount over this allows us to" jump the line" and deliver more options quicker. We're a minnow but would love to be a fast growing one! We're confident we have all the design work, shipping and handling in place.
Long answer but we think its very important:
Since Osloh was founded in 2008 we’ve been on the hunt for manufacturers that can make our product.
Our jeans are difficult to make! We need manufacturers that can do triple-stitching, apply multiple fabric coatings etc.
In fact our jeans require 40 different procedures compared to around 15 for normal denim jeans.
This puts us out of the reach of most traditional denim manufacturers around the world, and, despite a long and ongoing search, the US.
Quite simply, the machinery required to make our jeans is not available in the US-yet.
We’re not alone-other US based designers have the same difficulty with sourcing in the US. The good news is that denim manufacturing is returning home.
LA and NYC are leading the charge. We look forward to a time, soon we hope, when Osloh can manufacture its products here in the US.
And to any US denim manufacturers out there-we’d be delighted to hear from you! Please do contact us if you think you can manufacture our product.
Until then we are sourcing our manufacturing in China. We visited manufacturers earlier this year. The working conditions are excellent and the people delightful.
We met workers with amazing skills and attention to detail. Made in China sometimes gets a bad rap and we understand that. What we found were well paid and talented people eager to display their talents.
So our ride continues and we shall evolve as further manufacturing opportunities in the US unfold.
We’’ll be sure to keep you posted.
But its in our plans for 2014. We know this will require a great deal of thought so as to ensure we design a product that significantly exceeds the form, function and style of the many Jeans products available to women.
