Skull Tales is a semi-competitive game about pirate adventures in which each player can choose to take on the role of one of these six characters:
The players will explore islands, populations, caves and temples during their adventures, always keeping in mind their goal: gain enough gold and prestige to obtain the captaincy of the crew. They must face all kinds of foes, from the feared Royal Marines to enraged natives or cunning bounty hunters, even those of a more supernatural nature, like spooky skeletons, the Damned or the creepy Sea Abominations. Thanks to the game’s AI each adventure will be totally different from the last. A modular board with a random apparition system ensures a high replayability value, since the layout, the decisions the enemies take and where we will find them will change from one game to the next.
Skull Tales is split into three game phases: Adventure Phase, Voyage Phase and Port Phase.
It’s the most important phase of the game, the one in which the players will encounter challenges and adventures set up through a campaign. Each character has unique stats and abilities that define his or her personality and playing strategy.
As the players gain prestige and loot, they will be able to upgrade their gear and acquire new abilities with which their character will improve, making them more capable against new challenges.
Once the players have successfully finished an adventure, under the command of the player who represents the Captain, they’ll set sail back to the pirate’s home. During this phase the Captain will guide the crew to their goal, trying to overcome whatever obstacles may appear during the crossing, such as coast guards, sea monsters or rough weather. It will also be the perfect chance to board some merchant ship which will ensure enough plunder to pay the crew, improve the ship or hire new members for the voyage. But above all this, the most important aspect of this phase is the Crew’s Morale, for a mutiny derived from discontent will end your rule and rise another player to captaincy.
This is a re-arrangement phase in which the Captain can hire new crew members or improve the ship, while the other players acquire or upgrade their characters’ gear and skills.

Created in 2014, 4Moon Studio is a group of entrepreneurs and professional illustrators, graphic designers and art creators.
We’ve known each other for years and although some of us had worked together in the past, we had never had the chance of being part of one same project as a group. Our friendship and love for board games had led us to embark (pun intended) on this new pirate adventure.
For the “Skull Tales” project we’ve been lucky enough to receive the help of collaborators that have provided their experience and knowledge to enrich the game and aid in its development. Translators, 3D sculptors (3DBreed), playtest groups, new illustrators…all on board for the fun!
If you’d like to know more about our project or about us, you can find us at:
4Moon Studio has been designing and developing Skull Tales for over a year. Illustrations, graphic design, miniatures, game mechanics, settings and adventure design, publicity… it’s almost ready to start production. We only need your help to make this dream come true and allow everyone to enjoy Skull Tales with friends or alone, and become the most legendary pirate of the Caribbean.
This Project is US-friendly and EU-friendly, so you won’t have to worry about additional shipping or customs fees.
To avoid any risks or shipping delays we have decided to calculate the shipping expense during Skull Tales’ pledge manager, obtaining a better price. In any case, here’s an approximate price for shipping costs of a basic box to your home.
EURO zone 15$
CANADA- Rest of Europe 20$
Rest of the world 50$We must stress that these prices are approximate and might vary depending on the added weight of the Stretch Goals and Addons.
If during the pledge manager you dissagree with shipping costs we guarantee the full refund of your contribution to our project.
Risks and challenges
Every Project has risks and delays. The real problem is when they haven’t been studied previously or no decisions are made to minimize them.
Our team has followed several successful projects and some that didn’t reach their financing goal, or that encountered serious trouble in their production. We have analyzed and learned from this in order to minimize any possible inconvenience we may encounter.
Our first decision was presenting the finished game in Kickstarter to avoid any delays in design and be able to start production immediately.
We also chose to manufacture it with an important firm, Cartamundi ( http://www.cartamundi.com ), to guarantee a quality product and fulfill the production schedule, which is estimated in 2 months approximately. To calculate the shipping costs we’ve opted for pledge manager so we can ensure the best price and most trust-worthy shipping of your rewards.
The estimated delivery date of your rewards is early December 2015, an excellent Christmas gift. We firmly believe it will be sent before this, but we prefere to add 3 months on to our estimation in case we encounter obstacles in our voyage.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
