In this book officials - miggor - at the Swedish Migration Board will be telling about a failed immigration system and how they have to make important, life altering decisions under tremendous pressure, every day.
The employees deal with applications from asylum fraudsters, terrorists, criminals as well as from actual refugees and people in need of protection. They- miggorna - often have very little time for each case, sometimes less than an hour. Many new employees also do not have enough knowledge geographically, culturally or legally for being able to handle the asylum cases in order for the process to be correct and trustworthy.
The book will also contain stories by a other officials working with asylum matters such as Police and staff at homes for under age asylum seekers. Most of the texts end with a comment by me. I was a legal representative (ombud) for asylum seekers during 15 years and I have been involved in matters pertaining to asylum and migration since 1996.
Two previous books have been published in the series Inte svart eller vitt utan svart och vitt - miggor berättar (Not black or white, but black and white - officials tell their stories). They cover the periods 2008 - 2011 and 2012 - March, 2014.
