In 2009 we moved into our home the American Tap Dance Center and I will never forget signing the 10 year lease. I was SO excited and also nervous as I really didn't know how we would be able to afford the space, renovate it (which included installing new sprung hard wood floors) and then ultimately opening to the public.
After the floors were built, I put on my tap shoes to test the sound. Well, needless to say, we opened our doors and the rest is history.
Fast forward, after seven years of Year Round Education Programs for children, teens and adults, Studio Rentals for individuals and ensembles and a thriving Artist in Residence Program, we are now in serious need of replacing our hard wood floors. Without the proper instrument to dance on, how do we continue to teach, rehearse and create?
So, it's time, a bit overdue actually, even a little dangerous.
Our studios house the best tap floors in the world and provide a successful alternative to the very limited number of spaces even available.
Please help us raise $10,000 which will be generously matched by our very own Nancy Kremsdorf and her husband Joel. With your support, we can continue to support our tap community with pride.
It really IS all about the floors!
