The Gusto Chamber Players was born when a group of New York area musicians came together to read some chamber music. We discovered a mutual love of music and food, and decided to merge the two to present themed performances pairing music and food in an intimate and informal setting.
Our debut is Death By Clarinet, Death By Dessert: A Dessert Concert of the Final Works of W.A. Mozart. The evening will include a three-course Austrian dessert menu prepared by Natasha Li Pickowicz, pastry chef of Foragers City Table, alongside works featuring clarinet written at the end of Mozart's life.
'Parto, Parto, Ma Tu Ben Mio' / 'When in Rome' ApfelstrudelWe are premiering a chamber ensemble arrangement of this aria from one of Mozart's last operas, La Clemenza di Tito, and it will feature our soprano Ling Lopez. As the opera is set in Rome, the Apfelstrudel is inspired by Apicius, the famous collection of Roman recipes, and will be seasoned with anise, fennel, and other spices.
Clarinet Trio KV 498 'Kegelstatt' / 'Nannerl' Nockerl
The 'Kegelstatt Trio' was one of Mozart's first chamber works to include clarinet, and it also features viola and piano. Alongside this piano work we will serve the Nannerl Nockerl; a dessert egg-souffle named in honor of Mozart's sister Nannerl, who was one of the best advocates and performers of Mozart's piano repertoire.
Clarinet Quintet K. 581 / The 'Quintet' Torte
The clarinet quintet is the last piece Mozart wrote to feature clarinet, and it is considered one of the earliest and best-composed pieces for the instrument. As there are five distinct voices in the clarinet quintet, you'll taste five distinct flavors in our Quintet Torte, which will include dark chocolate, liqueur, hazelnut, cinnamon, and fruit preserves.
Tastings of dessert wines, and hot drinks will be also be served.

Risks and challenges
Our biggest concern is meeting our fundraising goal! Between our six musicians we have decades of performance experience under our belts, and the folks at Foragers sure know what they're doing in the kitchen, so as long as we have the funds, all will go as planned.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
