Have LEDDIE light up when you receive a call or message, have a Facebook notification, someone mentions you in a tweet, your LinkedIn profile receives a new view, and more! LEDDIE will let you choose the color, speed and sequence of each of these notifications and more!
Have a tweet? Two green pulses. Facebook post? Three blue pulses. Message from your boss? Blinking red light.
The options are countless and entirely up to you.
(NOTE: Pinterest is currently working on such functionality of notifications, and will be added ASAP. Tumblr and LinkedIn notifications are still in development and for the time being are limited.)

LEDDIE changes colors in full RGB range with speed, sequence and brightness chosen by you. You can even program your settings to be repeated later.
When you don't want to use any device to control LEDDIE - or you want to give it to someone that doesn't own one – LEDDIE has a side button that allows basic control. Just press it and choose from preset options.
- Take it outside - garden, camping, picnic in the woods. Set a bottle or transparent tray on it and it will light up.

We have a functioning prototype as seen on the pictures and in the project video. But there are still some things to be finished, and starting production is expensive.
We ask for support from the Kickstarter community to:
• Prepare LEDDIE for production
One of the biggest costs of enabling mass production of LEDDIEs is injection mold. It is necessary to make identically shaped, colorful casings by the company based in Poland, specialized in preparing molds for ABS items.
As for now, our prototype is white and we want to give you broad spectrum of colors to choose from. Moreover, we’ll get rid of little metal legs. They will be made from one piece of ABS plastic together with casing. We’ll also add magnets so that LEDDIE can attach to your fridge and other magnetic surfaces.
• The equipment for trimming circles
Circles will be made of PMMA (Plexiglas). The one build into the casings on the top of LEDDIE will be satin, chosen for optimal dispersion of light. The second, transparent, will be added separately to LEDDIE, for you to set bigger objects on it. We’ll manufacture these circles in our workshop, and we need CNC machine for this.
• Finish the iOS and Android applications
Currently the application’s possibilities are limited and making it fully functional, as it needs to be, is beyond our current funds. Right now it controls colors, speed and luminosity and first trials of connecting it to social media have been made.
The user interface also needs to be reworked. Afterwards they will have to be tested and licensed before launching it on Google Play and iTunes.
Our goal is to connect LEDDIE with all major social media platforms and some other apps. We have already hired highly qualified professionals, with broad experience in similar applications, to make sure final version is flawless.
• Prepare and produce final PCB circuit
LEDDIE’s electronic parts are home-assembled (as you can see in the pictures below). We need to prepare the final version on one PCB and connect it with all other electronic parts in LEDDIE. This will be done together with our business partner in Europe.
We want to make LEDDIE affordable. The only way is to make a lot of LEDDIEs. Why? Because fixed costs stay the same, whether we make 300 or 1,500. In the first case scenario, it would have to cost around $300 per LEDDIE, which would be ridiculous. That's why we need to start the mass production to cut costs, with around at least 1,500 LEDDIEs manufactured in the first batch.

LEDDIE will be manufactured only in USA and EU.
Only things to be ordered elsewhere are minor electronic parts such as batteries, chargers and wires - which will not be produced by us.
The estimations are based on assumption of producing around 1450 LEDDIEs.
- The tooling, software, certificates, part of PCBA, line setup (for example project) are fixed costs.
- The rest is dependent on the amount of LEDDIEs produced.
- As for the distribution costs, for the budgeting we assumed that 70% of it will be domestic and the rest - international.
Our first similar project was a glass with LED diodes, connected with a coaster, functioning as a wireless docking station, controllable and connected by smartphones or tablets.
Then we realized that the lighting coaster itself would be more useful and versatile. And now LEDDIE, thanks to Kickstarter community, can be the first ever light coaster that gives you control, connection and fun!
We have a functionality prototype connected to smartphone via Android beta app. We’ve basically done everything we could, without your support.

NOVEMBER 2012 - the idea of splitting the source of light and drinking part – Leddie, is born. We realized Drinkiez might be too heavy and not handy enough, not to mention prone to destruction.

FEBRUARY – APRIL 2013 – working on the utility, best materials and production strategy. Commence of preparations for launching the project on Kickstarter
- We selected companies that will support our project (electronic, material, programming etc.). Based on the analysis of the collected bids we estimated the costs necessary to complete project and start production (see below).
- We developed a scheme of production, essential to fulfill specific steps of Leddie's production
- We created a preliminary application to control the functionality and the assumptions for final version
JUNE 2013- Our first Kickstarter campaign. Decided we needed to rethink and replan.
JULY – AUGUST – BIG Re-launch: Better LEDDIE (redesigned in & out), better video, better project.
We have done everything up to this point that does not require outside funding.
POST PROJECT SUCCESS PLAN:
AUGUST 2013 – As soon as LEDDIE is funded, the whole production process begins in one blink of the eye:
Check all the orders and payments, collect logistic data and maintain contact with Backers
Order the injection mold from European plant specialized in such a production
Contract team or specialists working on the the iOS and Android apps
Order minor electronics from Shenzen - Bluetooth, batteries, battery charger, etc.
Prepare final version of PCB by creators of LEDDIE and order production from well known European company, SMB
Order CREE diodes directly from manufacturer in USA
Design eco-friendly packaging of LEDDIE and order it's production from European packaging company
AUGUST - OCTOBER 2013 – Assembling electronic modules and finishing the app, Production of casings and PVC parts.
Finish the App, test and license it in Google Play and iTunes
Assemble PCB circuit
Finish production of casings by renown European company
Produce polycarbonate parts in our workshop, using CNC machine
Assemble final LEDDIE’s plastic and electronic parts into finished product

We have worked together to come up with best design and use the best technology available. Each of us have different background and work experience, but we are all enthusiastic, passionate and great in working together. This diversity and broad experience makes our team perfect for accomplishing goals that we (and you) put ahead of us.
Many Kickstarter campaigns can encounter problems when taking their prototypes to production. This includes issues finding suppliers and engineering products for mass-production. Smooth execution is absolutely essential to overcoming such risks. We take this lesson seriously and have been working for long time negotiating with suppliers, testing component quality, and building a team that can execute on our promises as soon as we gain required resources.
Finding the right people is a challenge for any endeavor. Success in such a big tasks requires a team of talented, passionate, and motivated designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs. We have already formed a great and extremely motivated team, but we will have to extend it whether the Kickstarter kicks in:) In fact, we are already managed to make a shortlist of candidates who are willing to step in any time to make our dream come true.

Risks and challenges
No doubt introducing a device such as Leddie carries a some challenges and risks. However, thanks to our experience and responsibility we are able to minimize these risks.
We conducted a very thorough research before launching our project. We will do all it takes to fulfill our obligations toward backers in timely manner. That is why we do not promise unchecked, imaginary things.
We are positive that being sincere and transparent with the backers on every step of the way is one of main success keys. We will do all we can to keep you informed about every step we take to fulfill our dreams and your rewards.
Our international team is experienced in inventing and lunching new products in electronic and lighting industry, as you can read in our Bio. The company based in Europe will be responsible for the whole production process – partially conducting it on our own, partially in cooperation with renown companies. We will be using European, US and Shenzen components of best quality available.
Due to the fact that to assemble Leddie we use a) widely available components, b) cooperate with best plants in a region and c) manufacture parts on our own, we can reduce the risk of overdue deliveries to minimum.
Production of such a product is quite complicated technologically and mass production requires very precise technological process. We faced this challenge by preparing detailed production plans and our own methods of storing intermediate products, and we are able to minimize that risk as much as it is possible. The base for proper work organization is our team, which consists of suitable people responsible for particular stages.
As interest in our product might be worldwide, we have prepared logistic process which guarantees proper dispatch and shipment. A challenge for us will be to create a separate department responsible just for the logistics, which will depend on number of backers.
We are prepared to manufacture both 2000, 20000 or more Leddies in similar period of time. We cooperate for years with members of our production chain, so there will be no problem to fulfill our responsibilities toward backers.
