We want to thank EVERYONE for your amazing support throughout this campaign! As we draw near the end of our time-line and realize we have fallen short of funding it, we would like to ask everyone that has pledged to please move your pledge over to our Axis Game Factory website and “Donate” using Pay Pal using this link:
Donate to AXIS GAME FACTORY via PAYPAL We have had tremendous support “behind the scenes” that has ensured that we will be able to launch the Axis Game Factory this fall as originally planned. We have streamlined some of the donation tiers based on feedback throughout the campaign and ask that you continue to support us by securing a tier and spread the word to your friends, family, and colleagues.
By transitioning your pledge to a donation on our website now, you will secure your tiers features and early supporter price-point, which will increase once we launch to the public. Furthermore, we will invite EVERYONE who has committed to a “Starter Pak” donation and higher to ongoing access to our closed Beta program.
We know you have all been amazed by the new features and functionality that we have continued to share with you and have provided direct access to; moving forward, all access to updated software versions will be limited to our closed Beta supporters.
Thanks again for your ongoing support!

HEAVY WATER'S OPEN WORLD-BUILDING TOOL-SET
Industry veteran, Matt McDonald, and his development studio, Heavy Water, are excited to bring you a game-changing, open world-building tool-set that provides players with the ability to design, create, build, play and share their very own game creations with user-friendly technology and expansive game assets.
Axis Game Factory puts the power to create an entire game into YOUR hands! By providing players with endless assets, themes, characters, cameras, game modes – all of the ingredients to make amazing games – the only thing missing? You!
At Heavy Water, we've worked on every type of game and genre imaginable; having delivered on over 100 titles. We love to make games, but even more so, we want to put you in the driver’s seat to design and build your own creations, and that’s why we’re here - we need your help to make it a reality!
AXIS GAME FACTORY IS FOR ANYONE – KIDS, ADULTS, DESIGNERS, PROFESSIONALS, DIRECTORS, STORYTELLERS AND IMAGINEERS... IF YOU CAN DREAM IT – YOU CAN BUILD IT!
At Heavy Water, we know enough about building games, tools and content to know that it just shouldn’t be as difficult as it is! And there should be a way for EVERYONE to have as much fun making games as us. We have eliminated the need for you to have an entire game development team and instead, wrapped it all up for you in the Axis Game Factory!
Built for the PC/Mac/Linux systems, Axis Game Factory is a real time game tool-set (built in UNITY) that acts and looks like a scene editor/game development tool but we’ve taken all the hard parts out - without having to know how to program or model in 3D!
Anyone will be able to download and play Axis Game Factory in Basic Mode - but if you want all of the bells and whistles, you will need to step up and buy a starter-kit of a theme of your choosing, to unlock the "Deluxe Mode." From there, you can add any number of kits and features as they are made available. You will be able to share your creations with your friends to play and rank you, as well as download other games to play and link your levels to for endless fun!
When we say, “we love what we do” – we mean every word of it – and providing YOU with the tools to create in the same space as the pro’s is a life long passion of ours. Having published our own games and virtual world content for the last several years, we know there is a better way to the finish line than going the traditional publisher route and having them as the middle-man between us and you.
Through Kickstarter, we get to collaborate directly with you about the game and development features we will be including in Axis Game Factory. Plus, we don't have to make compromises with a publisher. We make the development decisions, we market the game, and we don't have to answer to anyone but you - our fans. It’s time to put the power of your imagination into your hands and support us through Kickstarter!
We need to raise $400,000 to fund the development team that will be completing the tools, assets, features and networking platform required to support the Axis Game Factory.
The good news is that from our years of game and content development, we have amassed a library of amazing assets, tools, and features that will be going into the Axis Game Factory, so we already have a great head-start!
We have designed the Axis Game Factory to grow and expand with new features and models to support the community. Once we reach our target goal, we will begin to add-in more features from our list of stretch goals as they are met as well as input from our community members. All additional money raised will go straight into the development and support of the game to continue to seed new features, gameplay systems, characters, and additional genres.
And here is where we have all the rewards broken down so you can see exactly what you are getting!
Heavy Water is an experienced game development and publishing studio. Having been in the business since 1997, we have extensive knowledge in building complete game engines from scratch for multiple console systems, writing cutting-edge tools for 3D modeling and animation packages, creating original properties for game, toy and 3D animated television series and self-publishing our own games and content for virtual worlds. It is safe to say that at this point in our careers, there is little we haven’t experienced and we are in a great place to take on the risks and challenges that may arise from the Axis Game Factory, but having been around the block a few times, we know that some are bound to show up. Here are a few that we have identified:
Funding the Development
The first big challenge that all game developers face is finding a publisher to fund their great idea, and thanks to you, we’ve eliminated that step!
Prototyping Axis Game Factory – Can it be Done?
One of the first things we do as developers when we have an idea and have flushed the general concept and key features is to begin prototyping it. As you can clearly see, we’ve been at it for a few months now and it’s looking SWEET! Matt builds an endless list of features and processes and works hand-in-hand with the programmers to engineer his ideas. From there, our technical artists and animators work to bring in assets and populate the tool-set. And from day one, we have opened Axis Game Factory up to a growing list of friends, industry pro’s, and kids to bang away at. So yes, it can be done.
If there is one thing we have learned in our 16-years of making games, it’s to PAD the schedule and add in proper contingencies. As previously mentioned, we have been at this for a few months now, and we have many of the key features in Axis Game Factory already working. We also have a ton of art assets, characters, animations, props, weapons, styles/genres of content, so it’s a matter of bringing them into our tool-set and optimizing them accordingly. That’s not to say that we have plenty more to do, but we feel pretty good about our September 2013 date.
We feel pretty good about the general scope for the launch product, and know there will be endless gameplay for you to enjoy; however, there are many additional features we would LOVE to add but they will require additional time and/or financing. Features such as additional platforms, genres, gameplay dynamics. We promise we will share these with you and provide details regarding our stretch-goals as the campaign progresses. We would also love to hear from you about any additional features and ideas that you would like to see as well.
We’ve survived the industry this long, and it’s safe to say, we will live to see another day! We have alternative revenue streams through our self-publishing model and feel confident that we can deliver the product to you for the budget we have projected.
The items in our pledge categories are pretty straight-forward and we plan to get our Community Forum moving straight away so that we may begin a dialogue with you. Whether your pledge category includes T-Shirts or design input, I guarantee we will be proactively engaged with you in short-order. We will also release Axis Game Factory exclusively to our BACKERS for at least one full week before the rest of the world can get their hands on it!
We are truly excited to be working directly with you, and humbled by the opportunity. In our history of working on over 100+ titles, we have NEVER fallen short of delivering a project. Never. Never-ever, ever!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Since the "Basic Mode" it is free to play, the game can be downloaded from our website once it has gone live, and after our Kickstarter supporters have received their access for at least one week. For all content packs, we will be using our fulfillment site [currently under construction], and the Kickstarter survey tool to ensure we have to correct information to give you access to your digital copies.
The initial release will be in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. We are also looking for ways of translating the game for our fans all over the rest of the world. As we have more information and our funding increases, we’ll make sure to keep everyone update on what languages will be coming with the Axis Game Factory.
Axis Game Factory supports Windows PC, Macintosh OS X, and Linux. Should we achieve our stretch goals as indicated, we will include iOS, Android and Console platforms.
Yes! PayPal donations are available along the right side of our Axis Game Factory website http://www.axisgamefactory.com/
It's too early in development to give hardware requirements. Our target is to run on older machines and to support a wide variety of hardware. We will be announcing the system requirements at a later date so stay tuned for an announcement down the road.
Not a problem. When the fulfillment site goes live, we’ll be merging the Kickstarter and PayPal data together into our own system, and from there we’ll be sending out project updates. For now, as long as you received a PayPal receipt, we’ll have you on file.
Send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org with your old and new addresses (please e-mail from your old address if you can) and we’ll update our records before the fulfillment site e-mails go out.
They'll come with the fulfillment system.
