Parachute is a neighborhood restaurant with a Korean American perspective, brought to you by husband and wife team Johnny Clark and Beverly Kim (Aria, Top Chef), located in the Avondale area of Chicago. PARACHUTE will serve dinner 5 nights a week, with plans to open for weekend brunch.
Using our extensive training in diverse cuisines we are approaching the concept not as a traditional Korean restaurant but more so a neighborhood restaurant with a Korean-American perspective; a place where you can wear what you want and eat great food that reflects Chicago's global community while discovering new experiences. A seasonal ingredient focused menu, we intend to bring people from all walks of life together to our dinner table to spark conversation over great food that feels familiar yet new.
Located at 3500 N. Elston in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, Parachute, will add to an already vibrant food/artistic community that houses the likes of their neighbors Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Revolution Brewery and Tap room and The Prop Theater among others. The spirits/wine menu headed by long time friend Matty Colston (Telegraph and Webster's Wine Bar) will embrace family cultivators and bottles produced using natural farming and production practices while seeking out balance in all beverages providing a dynamic alliance between food and drink.
Completely renovating the Avondale location with the help of Chicago designer Charlie Vinz, Parachute features repurposed materials to create a truly unique space that will seat 40 customers for traditional table seating and communal counter seating. Your contributions will cover the finished carpentry work that Charlie is handmaking as well as the handmade furniture that will make this place truly one of kind.
Risks and challenges
The only delays that might be out of our control is the task force inspections coming from the buildings department April 10th, due to our liquor license application. We have already passed our conditional liquor license application which is a huge win. We have definately crossed our t's and dotted our i's, but if there is any delay, your contributions will ensure we get over that hump.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
