About this project
THE MUSIC IN THE VIDEO IS NOT THE MUSIC THAT WILL BE USED IN THE FILM. THIS IS A PLACE HOLDER SO YOU CAN GET THE FEEL FOR THE ATMOSPHERE. Music info:
Rays theme, Steamboy OST by Steve Jablonsky
Steamboy (c) Sunrise
The real music will be written and played by our very good friend and former classmate Nancy Tsai
Of course the video itself is also more of a placeholder. The video is the storyboard so you get the outline of what we are trying to accomplish and hopefully are interested enough to help us fund it!
The storyboard and animatic were created by Tanya Lehoux.
The goal here is pretty obvious and simple- but awesome. To create a painstakingly hand drawn 3 minute long animation 500 million times better than our student films. The problem with not doing a student film though- is that you don't have the equipment and materials to make a film when you are not in school!
The film itself is about a girl named Luka, who has left her home to sail alone in the skies in search of adventure from her mundane life. When she gets lost in the middle of the wide expanse of cloudy sky she is saved by a glorious golden fish that she manages to hook- hoping it will take her somewhere- and leads her on a greater adventure than she could have ever imagined.
The money is for us to get the animation paper and tables and the programs that we need to color it, scan it- and technically before all that, line test it. The animation disks themselves for each of us will take up at least half of the requested funding! Animation paper as well is ridiculous and the more animation paper we can buy the more drawings we can do to make it look nicer!
The original concept was created by Tanya and is assigned the background, coloring, and layouts of the scenes, as well as the clean up of the keys. Miranda is responsible for the rough animation and cleaning up the in-betweens. The two will work on their assigned scenes with a schedule similar to what they worked with in school.
The two of us when to school in Vancouver, Tanya lives there and I come from the States. You need an american bank account to have a kickstarter so we used mine :) If you are looking to create a project then http://Indiegogo.com, which is like kickstarter but international.
