Eliosi's Hunt is a sci-fi top-down shooter and platformer inspired by Crash Bandicoot and Metal Slug. We wanted to capture the essence of older action games we love and present it with a modern approach, creating a unique universe, challenging gameplay and beautifully crafted graphics.
You play as Eliosi, an ingenious Zelicyan who dreams of becoming a bounty hunter but completing his first contract will be more challenging than he thinks. Little did he know that his target, Sieverr, was up to a lot more than just doing illegal research in his hidden factory in the swamps.
That has been the premise of the game from the very beginning of the development but about mid-way through the development, we started to question some of Eliosi's motivations, given that his journey turned out to be really bigger and harder than he thought. Was his dream really enough to keep him going? At this point, we realized a parallel to our journey as indie game developers. Eliosi thought capturing Sieverr was just going to be breaking into his factory and fighting him but the rabbit hole goes deeper than he could ever have imagined. The creation of our game, Eliosi's Hunt, turned out to be a greater and tougher quest to us than we could have anticipated and we decided to explore this journey of ours in the game, presenting it as the adventure of Eliosi to become a great bounty hunter.
We want to respect the player's intelligence by allowing him to explore the mechanics and discover how the world works so he can master the game and feel his actual progress through the play experience. We feel that most modern games have lost this essence in order to reach the biggest audience possible by not trusting the player's will to invest in learning the gameplay.
- Carefully crafted visuals and cutting-edge techlonogy puts you in the place of Eliosi as he struggles to chase his dream
- Challenging but fair gameplay that combines shooting and platforming
- Fluid and responsive controls gives you the possibility of truly mastering the game
- Mixture of hand-made and motion captured animations allows the characters to move naturally while keeping you in control at all times
- Time goals deliver frantic experience for hardcore players
- Unique and expansive lore that is explored in cutscenes and gameplay as well as other media
- Story about persistence and determination
- Explore distinct and hostile alien-looking environments
- Pick up weapons and items to help you complete your first contract
- Find hidden items to upgrade your drone and your equipment in order to get faster, stronger and deadlier
- Follow your and your friends' time changes through the online leaderboard
The speedruns are a big focus of Eliosi's Hunt. They allow you to feel your progress towards the mastery of the game. As you get familiar with the levels and the mechanics, you will get faster and faster and top all the game's online leaderboards. Besides improving your own skills at the game, you can also upgrade Eliosi's drone and skills as you discover hidden drone parts throughout the levels to get faster, stronger and deadlier.
Through our Early Access, you will get a chance to be part of the game's development and explore each new level as soon as it's ready. Your feedback will help us improve the game so we can release the best version possible. You can help us regarding balancing, engagement factor, features, bugs and more. So if you like what you have seen of the game thus far, consider joining our Early Access to have an anticipated taste of Eliosi's Hunt and be part of the development process.
Eliosi's Hunt's Early Access is set to start on September 28th of 2016 for PC. We plan to launch the final version in February of 2017 for PC (Mac and Linux depend on the first two Stretch Goals). We are also going to release Eliosi's Hunt for PS4 and Xbox One a few months after the PC launch.
From the very beginning of Eliosi's Hunt's development we set out to create stunning visuals and fluid gameplay, with that in mind we've chosen Unreal Engine 4 so that we can use its incredible power, including its lighting, shading and particle systems and all other features that many AAA titles have used. Unreal 4 is an amazing tool that enables us to push ourselves and create the best game we can.
One feature that we were really happy to be able to implement and that we think gives a whole different feel to the game was the use of motion capture. Thanks to FUMEC, a local university, we were able to animate all of our biped characters for both gameplay and cut-scenes using motion capture.
We are super excited with the rewards we managed to prepare for you at Kickstarter! Thanks to Eddie Vieira from Making Magic and Cristiano Seixas from Ghost Jack Entertainment, who came across Eliosi's Hunt and wanted to help us expand the project, we were able to produce high quality rewards that take the game to a whole new level!
We plan to release the best version we can of Eliosi's Hunt. The amount we are asking for at Kickstarter will make this possible but there is always the possibility of expanding the game. Our Stretch goals focus on different platform releases, accessibility and of course new features. We'd love the possibility of working on all that! If you help us unlock the large features, it won't delay the game's launch. They will be released as a free DLC.
TDZ Games is an indie games studio that started in the beginning of 2015 to continue a personal project of one of its founders. This project grew to become our first game, Eliosi's Hunt. Since then, TDZ has been building a passionate team to provide players incredible experiences through games. We are determined to explore the possibilities of games to combine gameplay, aesthetics, narrative, music, sound and technology to create experiences no other media can provide.
Besides the TDZ Games' team there are other great people helping bring Eliosi's Hunt to life. Braden Parkes is the game's sound supervisor and weapons sound designer. Thomas Frost is composing the game's soundtracks. Thiago Schiefer is designing the sound as well as composing some of the game's soundtracks.
Even though we are fairly advanced in the development, we decided to create a Kickstarter campaign to help us finish the game the way it deserves. We are self-financing the game so far, which means we have a very limited budget. Extra costs kept popping up and we realized we weren't going to finish the game in a polished and complete state. Besides helping to finance the final stage of the development, we also hope that by sharing our project on Kickstarter, we will reach many more players than we could otherwise. We want to make a great game and we are confident that only through collaborating with our players can we create an incredible experience for them to enjoy.
Kickstarter has also been a great opportunity for us to share all the rewards that are expanding the lore from outside the game media, like the comic book, the statues and the art book. Then finally, if we manage to get more than what we are asking we will be able to add several features to the game (some of which we have been requested by many players and we would definitely love to create them!).
Our own money managed to get us this far but it will not be enough to allow us to polish, test and iterate the game for the February release. The Kickstarter funds will be added to our own and allow us to finish the art of the levels, animations, cutscenes, fix bugs and iterate the game's design. This graph breaksdown how the Kickstarter funds will be used:
Risks and challenges
We have been developing Eliosi's Hunt for more than two years so far which means the main features are already implemented. Since the game is at this late stage of development, we have obviously overcome some major difficulties like project scope and viability, technology and the core gameplay of the game.
If the project is successfully financed, we can focus on finishing the content and playtesting it to make sure our ideas become an interesting and engaging game. In order to make sure this happens, we will release the Early Access version of the game, to make sure players can work with us to iterate and fine tune the game.
A major challenge we are prepared to face is the logistics of producing all the special rewards and shipping them all over the world. In order to make sure all this goes smoothly we have partnered with Making Magic and Ghost Jack Entertainment that have years of experience in this area.
At this point, the biggest challenge is scheduling. In order to make sure we can deliver the game on time and in great shape, we have been working with experienced software and project managers who have been helping us since the beginning of the development. In these years, we have been improving our production pipeline and we are confident that we have the structure and capability to deliver what we promise with great quality and on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
