About this project
WHAT IS THIS?
"The Lonely Italian" is a unique documentary that traces a young man's journey as he searches for love in 21st Century America. When we think of Italian men, we think of suave, debonair lovers with an endless slew of willing ladies at their beck and call. Domenico Nesci is not one of those Italian men. Rather, he is a foreigner with a very common problem: he just can't connect with members of the opposite sex. Why? Because everywhere he goes, women are buried in their smart-phones, their tablets, their laptops, looking down instead of looking around, hoping that technology will bring them closer to their soulmate in this new era of interconnectivity. So Domenico decides not only to join the online masses, but to document his journey as he joins every dating site he can, from mainstream to fringe, casting an ever-widening net in the hopes he can find the love of his life. What he ends up with is a hilarious journey not just of love and companionship, but of unexpected introspection as well.
WHY ARE WE ON KICKSTARTER?
The film is in the can, and right now we have a solid rough cut of the movie. But we still have several more very important post-production steps to complete before the film's ready to be shown to the world and mamma back home in Italy. And since many of the steps involve hiring professionals to fiddle with expensive equipment, hunched for long hours in dark, expensive studio spaces, all of them are costly.
Here is an example, just a tidbit, of the type of stop-motion animation and graphics we'll be using in different parts of the film by artist Stefano Bulbarello. http://www.bulbagallery.com/

WHAT IF WE GET EXTRA MONEY PAST OUR GOAL?
The Goal we are trying to reach is the bare minimum we need in order to complete the movie appropriately. Any extra money we can raise in our budget is going to allow us to complete The Lonely Italian much more comfortably and increase the quality of the final product. So please be generous and keep donating!!!
Risks and challenges
The Lonely Italian is a very ambitious project to say the least. The good news is that we already shot the film, so that eliminates a degree of worry right away. So many man-hours have been put into creating this that we can't wait to finally bring the final project to life for all of you to enjoy. Post production is an expensive part of the process and we have already used most of our time and resources to make it to this stage. Making films is hard, especially when you are venturing a crazy journey like the one we took. We just need your support to help us get over the finish line.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
