About To Kill a Mockingbird:
It is the summer of 1935 in Maycomb, Alabama, and Scout Finch’s days are full of Miss Maudie’s Lane cakes, Calpurnia’s scoldings, and elaborate schemes with Jem and Dill to make Boo Radley, the neighborhood recluse not seen for fifteen years, come out. But Maycomb and the Finch family are about to be shaken to their core: Tom Robinson, a black man, has been accused of raping a white woman, and Scout’s father, Atticus Finch, has been appointed to defend him in the upcoming trial. As tensions of race and class erupt into violence, Scout is forced to confront the prejudices that shape her world and the realization that what is right is not always popular or easy. Adapted from Harper Lee’s 1961 Pulitzer Prize winning novel, To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic story of compassion and conscience in the face of American injustice.
About our production:
To Kill a Mockingbird is Purple Crayon Players' first ever spring mainstage production. We hope to reach out to the greater Evanston community, particularly middle- and high-schoolers, to allow this story to have the impact it deserves. Because our venue, McCormick Auditorium, seats nearly 300 people, this production will require a large set and a very ambitious lighting design. Additionally, our seventeen person cast will need multiple 1930s period costumes each. Your generous donations will contribute to our talented designers' visions and help make this as high-quality and professional a production as it can be.

About Student Theatre at Northwestern (StuCo)
Northwestern possesses a vibrant and highly collaborative community of student-produced theatre. Producing over 60 shows a year, from large-scale musicals to intimate dramas, the student theatre scene is one of the largest in the country, providing invaluable hands-on training for future theatre professionals.
There is more to the process of creating a show than what happens in the rehearsal room. The combined efforts of the design and business teams create the world of the play and ensure that the experience from the first flyer to the last bow is a cohesive event.
Designers are challenged to both create a unique design and work in conversation with other design areas. Hours of research, sketches, and model building are required to communicate a design idea to the rest of the team before it can be implemented.
The business team is responsible for raising funds for the production and filling the audience come showtime. It is this team's job to create a brand for the show as well as communicating to the larger campus why it is relevant and worth seeing.
