About

The World of Downward Dog

Downward Dog is named after a yoga pose. Not after that short-lived TV series with the same name. No talking dogs in this web series! Just a Drag Queen!

In the world of Downward Dog, we have a variety of characters. Six main characters each with their own story crazier than the next.

There's Bella - a woman who divorced her husband on the reason she was tired of being his Stepford Wife. She threw all her money into a yoga studio, and mind you, never took a class in her life! Just looked the part in her yoga pants. Business was never her strength, try as she might, her studio will close shop unless she comes up with a plan to save it!

In comes Tiffany Wiles. A Drag Queen with big dreams of Sashaying down the runway of RuPaul's Drag Race! But she is attached to Bella's dream. Yep, always a faithful friend, Tiffany gave her RuPaul savings to Bella to help with the Yoga Studio. Now it's her life savings and life's dream walking out that door unless they can raise cash each month to keep the doors open.

Then there's the Shu's. Fen Shu and his wife Ti Shu. They were completely happy toiling away in their own quiet and drama free world - until the Yoga Studio opened and strange moaning noises started echoing through the walls into their back room. The noises only anger Ti Shu as her husband has never made her sound like that. Then poor Fen Shu, a man with old traditions finds himself intrigued with Tiffany.

Last, but certainly not least, there's Adam and Edna Krotch - who pronounces her last name Roche' (the K is silent). A happily (clears throat) a long-married couple of 25 years. Adam just happens to come across a new yoga class strictly for men, that's a bit "adult". Adam convinces Edna he needs to attend these yoga classes "for men only" three times a week. Edna is thrilled he wants to be healthier - until she notices him gaining weight and her goal is to find out why.

Bella and Tiffany's weekly goal is to find girls that will help them with the "risque" classes - but it's costing Bella more than what she's bringing in.

Downward Dog follows Bella and Tiffany on some crazy antics while meeting a cast of different and odd characters. Downward Dog is about true friendship that doesn't judge a book by its cover.

Love is love is love!!

Actors Involved

Connie Romano
Connie Romano

Connie Romano -a very talented actress approached screenwriter Debra Johnson to write a webseries for her. She had four concepts that she wanted to discuss. Debra wrote 3 pages of each concept - but she combined two ideas and threw in a Drag Queen and Connie fell in love with it! Connie is also the Executive Producer.

Adam V Jankas
Adam V Jankas

We have the honor of casting a young and talented man Adam V Jankas as the lovely Drag Queen Tiffany. Adam began his drag career as Magenta in Rocky Horror. Adam aka Ameretta is slowly evolving and we are so happy to have her evolve in Downward Dog.

Alice Weber
Alice Weber

Alice Weber has worked on numerous Gato Loco Films. Once you find great talent, you stick with them! Alice brings so much to the character of Edna. The audience will instantly fall in love with her!

Richie Noodles
Richie Noodles

Richie Noodles is a comedian and actor. We met Richie in 2012 when we were casting our first film. We've partnered with him on a script he wrote and he starred in our mafia based web series "It's Just Business". It was only natural to cast him as Adam Krotch since Richie and Alice have worked together before and are excited to do it again with Downward Dog.

Vincent Chan
Vincent Chan

Vincent Chan plays store owner Fen Shu. This is Vincent's first time working with Gato Loco Films but we see a long future ahead with Vincent and the zany personality he will bring to his character!

Holly Jian
Holly Jian

Holly Jian, someone we thought was a quiet and reserved person at her audition turned into a vivacious and very funny person! Holly met Vincent once and you'd swear they were an old married couple. That's how talented and comfortable they are with each other. They are a wonderful addition to Downward Dog and steal the scenes! Think an Asian Mr. and Mrs. Roper. (Three's Company)

Special Guest Star

Christopher Mann
Christopher Mann

Christopher Mann was a supporting actor in the movie "Loving" in 2016, The Wire in 2004-2006, among other great movies and television.

We are so honored he agreed to play opposite Connie as a possible love interest for Bella. Christopher loves the variety of characters and the concept of the show.

Why We Want to Film Downward Dog

Downward Dog is filled with colorful characters from all walks of life and not to mention the subplots. The focus of the show is the friendship Bella and Tiffany share. Complete opposites but joined at the hip.

Our Director, Carlos Garcia Ibarra, has this to say about Downward Dog:

"The story is about a business that's failing but the key thing here is the owners are willing to take chances. As a Director, I am taking the same chances as the characters. The story is like no other out there and the script is so well-written. The viewers will definitely see some of themselves in each character and can relate. It's just going to be a fun show to watch to see what crazy things Bella and Tiffany get mixed up in and all to save their business."

Filming Christopher Mann's scenes in November 2017 is the goal for this campaign. The rest of the pilot will be filmed Spring 2018. We still have to find locations and just you wait until you see where Bella and Tiffany go!

We need your help to make this happen for the November shoot. We have some pretty cool awards so take a look. We actually need $5,000.00 for the November shoot but setting the goal at $3,500.00 makes it reachable and anything above that would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Risks and challenges

Getting Christopher Mann to play a supporting role was the Universe smiling at us! However, we need to film his scenes before January as he is flying to LA for pilot season.

The reason for this campaign is to raise the money for the one-day shoot that involves Christopher's scenes.

Even though this is a struggle, we are bound and determined to make this happen! With your help as backers, we can make that happen!
