T Minus 14 and Counting
In the previous post, just six hours ago, I asked, "What can we accomplish in 20 hours?" Part of the answer is now in. In the last six hours, we gained 200 new backers (over 5,600 of us now!) and cut the distance to the goal from $33,000 to less than $17,000. Wonderful work, everyone!
This is just a quick post before I get a few hours of sleep.
Will we accept PayPal pledges for Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption?
Yes, we will. We are waiting until after the Kickstarter closes before offering PayPal contributions. Then we will start accepting them on the Hero-U web site: http://www/hero-u.net is the home page, and will have a link to the "Hero-U Store". We expect to offer Kickstarter-like reward tiers for two or three months. All of those purchases will count towards project stretch goals.
The store will remain open after those 2-3 months, but purchases will count towards "game sales" rather than our stretch goals. This is an important distinction for developer royalties, possible future investors, and the Kicking It Forward campaign I mentioned in the last update.

And in case you have time on your hands, here's the "Home Stretch Chat" we held on Google+.
Thank you all for your support, and let's see how far we can go in the final 16 hours!

Congrats!

First, Congratulations!
Next, thank you and APPLAUSE for saying of paypal/store items "after those 2-3 months, purchases will count towards "game sales" rather than our stretch goals" ----- This has been a major griping point for me, as other Kickstarter games continue to collect "donations" that are clearly no longer donations, and have no bearing on their game budget. Really happy to see that honesty in marketing!

Hooray!!! Congrats, congrats, Corey and Lori! And a big thank you to everyone that pitched in!
I was worried we wouldn't make it, but a huge late surge took us over! I can still claim my perfect record for pledging to successful projects!

Woo hoo, we did it!

Congrats Corey and Lori!! I'm so excited to see this game evolve. I always like the old Sierra adventure games including Quest for Glory!! In fact, when I started playing QFGIV it was on a new computer and at one point in the game it froze consistently. Until I recently discovered gog.com (using doxbox), I never saw the ending! Now I'm going to go back and play that game again! I'm looking forward to reading abotu all the backers and seeing how the game unfolds! :-)

Congrats Corey and Lori, so glad to see Hero U funded! I cannot wait to get my "big box" version of this game and start playing it.
Ignacio Ferreyra on November 20, 2012
Congrats Lori and Corey, this game just HAD to be made. I'm so happy! :-)

Hooray, funded! I'm glad or I'd have to up my pledge AGAIN - I need this game ;)

@Justin: Yes, if someone chose physical add-ons and did not include enough for the add-on plus shipping, we'll give them an opportunity to correct that via PayPal.

THANK YOU, everyone!

Sorry about the typo (too late to edit the update now, but I'll do another) - The correct Hero-U site address is http://www.hero-u.net. We will accept PayPal contributions - which will be treated the same as Kickstarter support (for rewards and stretch goals) for the first few months - at the site.

The immature sophomore in me wishes the total stayed at $400,666, but I'm glad it's still going.

Man, I guess everyone reads their emails in the morning. Looks like the last chunk of change came in in a rush in the last ten minutes.

We did it! Woohoo!

And they've hit 400k. It's funded. I can stop wishing I had more to give now and just be happy I supplied what I could.

Funded! Congrats!

Corey and Lori: I'm so excited to be able to kick in for this project. The VERY FIRST PC game I ever got was Trial by Fire. It's remained my favorite adventure game throughout the years (though QFG4 is a close second.) I've yet to find any games similar to the Quest for Glory series - where you can genuinely play through time after time and play/finish the game in completely different ways. The storylines in your games drew me in; I've yet to find anything else out there that comes close. Thank you so much for doing this project!

5 hours to go and $1,600 bucks left to go!!! Almost there guys!
Justin on November 20, 2012
There's a lot of people freaking out about whether or not they're including the right amount for physical items with shipping. I'm assuming there's no need to fret for if you goof up you can just make up the difference with Paypal.
Is that a good safety net Corey?
Less than 3k to go!!!!
Rinu on November 20, 2012
I'm very happy about Lori's answer regarding the romance inclusiveness during AMA. It's something I missed in Sierra's games a lot :)
Okay, time to go back listening to Google+ recording and clicking F5.

Bumped myself from Freshman to Junior and kicked in extra for the second game. I like rogues but usually play a mage in the QfG games. Figure I'll take the GoG code for the QfG series from that reward level. I missed out on 5 and although I have the rest it can be hard to get the rest to run right on a modern machine. GoG does a great job of making that happen.
MadJo on November 20, 2012
I just increased my pledge level to the Sophomore level. Something I rarely do, but I think this project is worth it. Surprised that it hasn't reached its goal yet.

Been a fan of Quest for Glory and the RPG-Adventure genre since you guys were still making and remaking this series back at Sierra (early 90s...?)
So glad you guys are getting back into it. I'd love to play a brand new series of Hero-U titles with your brand of creativity and humour. :) I am an indie game developer myself and it's the kind of games that you guys used to make when I was a young teenager that inspired me to make my own creative worlds and play with new sub-genre ideas.
Thanks for the many fond memories and I hope to go on at least one more of your great adventures! :D
