There is another new, one of a kind, $1,200 level. It's the Volpin Level. Day 10 Update - New painted prototype!
Hi everyone! My name is Bill Doran and I make props for a living. It wasn't always like that. For years I was climbing the corporate ladder at a desk job and did prop making and costuming on the side as a hobby. About a year ago I decided to forego the corporate lifestyle, shed the shackles of my desk, and take my hobby full time! I started my own, one man company called Punished Props! Since then I've been building many replicas, mostly from video games.
I've decided to take my small business in a bold new direction by offering a completely new, all original design of a prop space gun. I've spent the last couple of months designing and building a prototype and am ecstatic with the results.
My main goal is to create many unpainted plastic kits. I know that there are thousands of DIY makers and costumers out there who are looking for a unique piece for their next project or costume. This space gun kit can be modified, assembled, and painted with a near infinite number of possibilities.
I've designed it to be modular. It has room for electronics and custom parts & accessories.
I am beyond excited to see what you guys come up with!
I also want this gun to be available to collectors. I know that my work has grown in popularity over the last year and there is a demand for finished, painted pieces that have been painted by me. So, I will also be offering limited runs of "collector edition" space guns.
Thank you so much for helping make my dream project a reality!
Risks and challenges
There's a chance that nobody will like my design and no one will want one of their own. However, I think it's a pretty rad design that people will really like!
I may need to hire on extra people to get large quantities of kits made. New workers means taking a chance that their levels of quality and productivity may not be on par with mine. Fortunately, since I do this full time, I can afford to dump all of my "free time" into fulfilling kit orders myself if necessary.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
