About this project
ONE HUNDRED TOKYO 3D Printed Maps are novel, three-dimensional maps, made using full-color 3D printers that add a fresh sense of art to your room's decor. The full 100 piece set forms a large scale 3D map of Tokyo. But of course you can just get your favorite area separately.
These maps are made based on realistic urban model data gathered by ZENRIN, a data provider for Google Maps and Microsoft among others, using specially equipped vehicles.
3DSystem's full-color printers will be used for manufacturing. The base print uses gypsum powder, which is then coated in a special resin. Once this hardens, it is coated with a final layer of resin paint.

Additional Map Pieces are available for $100 each. Just add them on to your base reward price.
For example: To order 3 Map Pieces, add $100 on to the $175 Bronze Medal 2 Map Piece reward, to make your total pledge amount $275.
We want people from all over to world to be able to enjoy the beauty that is Tokyo's cityscape. Your support will allow us to complete the additional data needed to expand to a wider range of available Tokyo areas beyond the original 13 finished areas.
Risks and challenges
There may be instances where buildings located on the map dividing lines need to be removed because of stability strength or other production reasons.
Also, please be aware that the gypsum used in the map printing can break easily and is susceptible to moisture. We will make all efforts to meet our promised delivery date, however, the process of turning the 2D map data into 3D is highly technically demanding, so it is possible there could be delays in production and shipping for the full 100 piece set.
